This distinctive accommodation is designed to maximise the extraordinary views of the Mackenzie Country both day and night, with a bedroom built predominantly of glass. This unique building comprises a glass-roofed bedroom, as well as a grass roofed kitchenette and bathroom and is located on a farm, within the Aoraki Mackenzie International Dark Sky Reserve.
Bevan and Bridget have created a wee slice of paradise in the middle of Mackenzie Country. Fantastic accommodation, so well presented and thoughtful, with the eco-friendly design of the room. Peaceful and isolated, it was the perfect place to relax and unwind with views looking out over the the land and of course, billions of stars once the sun sets, either from the outdoor bath or the comfort of the roomy bed. The magical sight of seeing stars drifting across the glass ceiling as you lay in bed is an experience like no other. I will definitely be back and highly recommend Skyscape for anyone looking to experience something special.

Three Creek Comprises of four small shops, 1950's Service station,General store, Blacksmiths and antiques together with coffee caravan, all full of giftware and collectables old and new. A recommended must see.
Interesting stop with lots for the Man Cave . Plenty of wooden furniture, signs, and lots of memorabilia. The lady who was in charge was very friendly and approachable. Fun place to visit with plenty to give us oldies a bit of a nostalgia trip. Worth a stop - would imagine kids would be fascinated by some of the old stuff used by their grandparents when they were kids.

There is so much to grab the eye in this little village, where does one start? From the charm of St. Patrick's Church (the oldest union church in NZ the sign proudly says), to the fence made of skis of the Starry Night cottage, to the collectibles in the various shops from bygone times in the early to mid 20th century (nearly all in great shape) to the fantastic pinewood furniture and decor items (all made out back we were told), it's sensory overload. This roadside stop is a hidden gem, and they make great coffee to go as well. Definitely fun.

Designed to educate and entertain, the centre features a spectacular state-of-the-art 3D movie, New Zealand's first full dome digital Planetarium and Museum which documents the pioneering heart of the region and features the impressive Hillary Gallery. The cafe and bar area offers indoor and outdoor seating and floor to ceiling mountain views.
We visited this exhibition on our last visit a few years ago and wanted to have another look . We again really enjoyed looking at the memorabilia on display . It is much more than an exhibition on Sir Edmund Hilary as important as this undoubtedly is . Even in respect of Sir Ed it is a reminder of his Antartic adventures and achievements which understandably tend to be overshadowed by the legend of Everest .There is excellent information on other notable mountaineers and also the very interesting history of Mt Cook Airlines and the the Mt Cook area including developement over the years . Well worth a visit . Last time we also watched the excellent film in the theaterette but skipped it this time. Not sure how often the fil runs at the moment as unusual times with less visitors about
