Namibia's largest coastal town is a huge draw for merrymakers and vacationers from all over the globe. This seaside resort showcases its German origins in its European-style colonial architecture, creating a jarring juxtaposition against the landscape of the Namib desert. Sandboard or motorbike the dunes, dine and imbibe in a picturesque restaurant on the waterfront, or just marvel at the unusual birds and plants that populate the region.

In it’s prime position above the ephemeral Swakop River overlooking a vast and sensuous apricot dune sea, Desert Breeze offers the ultimate desert experience. A short drive from central Swakopmund, its spectacular location provides peace and tranquillity away from the bustling town, and the privilege of savouring the ancient Namib Desert.
After a long drive up from Sesriem we found Desert Breeze to be a real home-from-home. Lovely bungalows overlooking the dunes (which are only 120million years old) and only a 5-10 min drive from the old town and seafront restaurants. The laundry service was great as well and delivered a same day service. The room was wonderful too, with a spacious bathroom, lounge area with wood burner and bedroom area. Be careful lighting the fire. My husband knows how to light our woodburner at home and had to re-arrange how they had laid it in the stove to get it going properly. We heard tales of fire brigades being called out and one tourist burning themselves quite badly. They provide paraffin soaked ceramic fire starters, so just make sure you know you how to light fires correctly. Breakfast was freshly cooked and had the usual selection of buffet goods too. The staff were absolutely great as well. We are coming back to Namibia in 2023 and have decided to stay at their sister lodge, the Stiltz, nearer the seafront.

May 2022 - Three night stay prior to our one month self drive. Excellent accommodation in Swakopmund. Great walkable area close to cafes, bars, the beach, and CBD area shops. From the moment we arrived Olly and her team made us feel comfortable and provided great local information. Our room was very comfortable and had all the nice amenities for a short stay. While not truly a huge suite the room was perfectly designed for comfort. The lodging is small and provided vouchers for breakfast at some great local restaurants (we especially enjoyed The Village Cafe). Our first night we dined next door at “Swakopmunds best Italian/pizza restaurant”, Gabriele’s, the following evening at the Tug for seafood (thanx to Olly for the last minute reservations), and then around the corner at Fachwerk Biergarten for a fun evening of beer and Bavarian food. Short walk to several supermarkets to ‘stock up’ for our driving trip. Swakopmund Luxury Suites had the perfect blend of location and super friendly staff that made for a great stay.

12 Luxury Self-Catering units close to the shops and main beach
Convenient clean and good value, the Smart TV needed some user training but I got it in the end! The kitchen is well equipped. I was worried about there being no aircon but the room maintained a consistent pleasant temperature day and night.

Will definitely recommend, Trudi and Carl are amazing hosts. If you want a relaxed and peaceful atmosphere this is the place for you. Worth every penny. Central in swakop close to everything but secluded enough that you do not know you are in the city. Beautiful views of the dunes. Will be back
