Berlin is an edgy city, from its fashion to its architecture to its charged political history. The Berlin Wall is a sobering reminder of the hyper-charged postwar atmosphere, and yet the graffiti art that now covers its remnants has become symbolic of social progress. Check out the Weltzeituhr (world time) Clock, topped by a model of the solar system, then turn back time by dining at the historic Zur Letzten Instanz, a 16th century restaurant that was frequented by Napoleon and Beethoven.

The experience is extraordinary and it is hard to believe that any other spa is better than this one The complex has so many choices and is beautiful throughout. There are many saunas, steam baths, pools, and relaxation areas indoors and out. Architectural design, decor, and maintenance are all impeccable. The bar and lounge area is very pleasant, with many options for sitting and relaxing, and the restaurant is pleasant with excellent food and a variety of seating options. Here are several tips: (1) Remember that all saunas, steam baths, and pools are completely textile-free. Yes, completely nude. (Seating and relaxing areas, the bar/lounge, and restaurant all require use of a bathrobe.) . For a first-timer, the shock might last one minute. When there are hundreds of naked bodies around, one feels pretty anonymous and there is no gawking or prurient interest. (2) It can get crowded at peak times: on a Sunday afternoon it was a 30+ minute wait in line to get in (workers visited those in line, offering hot punch or gluhwein, a nice touch). While the delay getting in was disappointing, the facilities did not seem too crowded; I believe the delay getting in was because of capacity control, not a mere backlog at registration. (3) . It is most beneficial to stay a long time and to bring a book for relaxation. Electronic devices are not allowed (enjoy "digital detox, as they describe it), and I didn't see any televisions. (4) If you don't bring your own bathrobe and towel, you must rent them at a price that seems steep (EUR 8-10.). (5) Know that some saunas can be quite hot -- the hottest is 95 degrees Celsius! Pay attention to the time and be careful. There are also "aufguss" ceremonies throughout the day in various saunas with special infusions and extra heat, where the worker fans blasts of hot, infused air on all those in the sauna; if it gets too much, you can leave. (6) This is not a place for lively conversation with friends or to chat up others. Conversation is minimal and usually in quiet whispers. Excessive conversation will draw a "shhhhh" from others. (7) Most of the patrons appear to be couples or singles, but it is also a family place. Kids must be at least 7 years old but I imagine that 12-17 year olds who didn't grow up with spas would feel awkward. I wouldn't recommend bringing American kids those ages. (8) Massages are available but they book up 2-3 weeks in advance. (9) On entering, one gets an electronic key for a locker, which is used to time the visit and for all purchases. One must tell the attendant at check-in whether one wants a locker room with or without video surveillance for security; "I don't care" isn't an option. One pays at the end of the visit.
Our yoga studio is located on a small peninsula close to the West Harbour in Berlin Wedding. It is a meeting ground for people from all over town and one of the most magical places of Berlin we've seen so far.The perfect spot to find peace and tranquility. We developed our own integrative yoga classes based on the Ashtanga Yoga system.
