Reviewed By 619jeffry - Essendon, Australia

Holy Trinity Anglican Church was constructed in the 1840s, before Victoria was a State. It is built of bluestone and appears to be solid. These days, it has services in English and Arabic, servicing the growing Middle Eastern population in the Northern Suburbs. Holy Trinity has other outreach programs for new migrants.

Uniting Church Second Wesleyan Methodist Chapel

Reviewed By 619jeffry - Essendon, Australia

The Methodist movement was constantly evolving. This Methodist chapel adheres to the teachings of John Wesley, founder of the Merhodist movement. This chapel is the oldest surviving Methodist chapel in Victoria; in fact, one of the oldest surviving religious buidlings in the State, dating from 1849. .It is, in its typically modest Methodist way, an impressive building, constructed of bluestane and sandstone; it is a heritage building. The church is now part of the Uniting Church complex, and still in use today.. The Methodist, Congregational and Presbyetrian churches merged to form the Uniting Church, of which this Chapel is a part..

St. Paul's Catholic Church

Reviewed By 619jeffry - Essendon, Australia

Catholic churches remain important to the faithful. They always seem to be more colorful that Protestant churches, for whom things such as Lady Chaples and the Stations of the Cross are often absent. St Paul's is a church for the people. We visited here for a wedding. The priest advised the bride that if she went easy on the nagging their marriage would be much happier. And he's never been married!
