The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, the meals were just fantastic with fresh seafood, the onsen was relaxing with a super outdoor tub facing the sea and wew were treated to an entertaining and energetic masked drum performance in the basement theatre. Well located just east of the town centre with a handy bus shuttle to the morning market. Very happy with our stay.

The hotel is located on a hill overlooking the Sea of Japan and the harbor of Wajima. There is a spa at the hotel. You can see the harbor of Wajima or the Sea of Japan from the room.Close to Sodegahama beach. Therefore, you can enjoy swimming in the summer.
Wajima Onsen Yashio. Beautifully located overlooking the sea, this hotel excels in fresh seafood, japanese-style. The interior could so with a painter and some new carpets but the wabi-sabi look is balanced by very good service and accommodating staff.

Our cycle tour came here for the night. The decor of the foyer is stunning. Meal was very good, and seated at western tables and chairs. Shared bathrooms and toilets. Futons on floor, but excellent doonas/duvets. Staff/family all very friendly.

A Ryokan, no less, promising an Honsen and high standard. Well, no. The room we've booked (for more than $300..) was almost naked, except a small sink and a table. WC could be found by the end of the corridor, a shared one... Bathroom was the next question? Yes, there is one; actually two: one for men, one for women; shared, what else.. Not on the same floor mind you, on the 1st one . The Honsen? We haven't seen it, it was taken thus we'd have to wait. How long? God knows, since they don't speak English. Ah, the room faces the kitchen, no actual door, just that sliding thing.

Hard to compare as this is the first Ryokan that we have stayed. But, here is our experience so far. The greeting is over the top as everyone is in the driveway yearning to do something for you. I really believe they would carry you in if you allowed it. The rooms I have seen including ours #305 faces the ocean and roadway. Strong powerful waves. There is a garden directly across the road and there was a woman working out there until dark. Our dinner last night included Shusi, Sashimi, BBQ. You are spoiled for choice. The Onsen was lovely also our first and just getting the lay of the land. You don’t want this style if you have trouble with stairs or getting up from the floor. Very low ceilings. Extremely clean. Worth a try for sure these Ryokan’s
