Mercantic, situated in Sant Cugat del Valles, and seven minutes from Barcelona, is the most unique and original venue in Spain for the trade of antiques, vintage pieces, handicrafts and decoration. Depending on the day, 150 to 300 dealers gather there. They are situated in different spaces. Some are in shops and stands in the outside patio, and others in small stores inside the building that was once a ceramic factory. Every Sunday, in the outdoor patio there is a lively market where you can find unusual collections of antiques and "hand made" items. A special highlight is the "El Siglo" bookstore where you can enjoy concerts and Vermouths while browsing the exposition and sale of 150,000 antique and used books. Another event not to miss is the "VINTAGE FEST" which takes place the first Sunday of each month in the patio and on the surrounding streets. There you can purchase antiques, collectibles and handicrafts. Many dealers, buyers and browsers participate. And aside from enjoying a lovely "passage through time", Mercantic offers a daily variety of restaurants and other food services like the Xiringuit, the Cafe de Belgrado and the concerts/vermouths of the Siglo. More than 10,000 m2 to stroll, browse, touch, buy and enjoy for a while.
We got the train from Placa Catalunya (FGC) and got off at Volpelleres, which is one stop after Sant Cugat. Some excellent antique items and a wonderful lighting shop that sells leaded lights and Tiffany lamps
