One of the most historic cities in America, Philadelphia is an ideal place to spend a weekend - preferably a long one. Be sure to see the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall, where the Constitution and Declaration of Independence were signed. Both are part of Independence National Historic Park. Philadelphia also boasts some outstanding art museums, including the Rodin Museum. The Franklin Institute Science Museum is one of many area attractions honoring the life and work of Benjamin Franklin, the city's most famous ambassador. After digesting all of that history, be sure you save room for a classic Philly cheese steak sandwich.

Though it can no longer be rung, the bell remains a lasting American symbol of freedom.
A must do!!! Visit very emotional and educational about the iconic symbol of American independence, set in the ruins of the colonial house.

One of Philadelphia’s five original squares, Franklin Square is Center City's favorite playtime oasis. Centered around its beautiful fountain with the new free Fountain Show featuring spectacular dancing water effects and colored lights choreographed to music (spring-fall), Franklin Square also features the Parx Liberty Carousel, the one-of-a-kind Philly Mini Golf course, and the renowned SquareBurger. Now featuring Spooky Mini Golf! From 6-9pm every night in October, Philly Mini Golf becomes a magical playground with spooky tricks around every corner! Lights, fog, cobwebs, and more return to this Philadelphia-themed miniature golf course where you can putt through city icons and landmarks.
Visited Philadelphia during the holidays and made the Lights at Franklin Square a stop on the to-see list. Parking in the area is rough, but we were able to snag a spot close to the mall. The Square's holiday decorations are lovely. Great place to relax and take photos. There are a few small shops selling snacks and hot cocoa in the the park. There is a beer garden as well. There is also mini golf, a carousel and a kiddie train ride available for purchase there. Going there to see the lights (free) is a cheap family trip but if you plan on doing some activities and buying food/drinks, your tab for the night can add up quickly.

Known as Philadelphia's liveliest and funkiest strip, the street has more than 300 stores and restaurants.
South Street is like a vein, it carries the blood and life. It's the major entertainment and social thoroughfare of South Philadelphia. It is busy at some times, quaint and quiet at others. It has old brick, new modernist, and tons and tons and tons of urban art and creativity. The glass murals stretch out from the Magical Gardens in the surrounding alleys and streets so be curious and don't be afraid to go off and back on the street by hitting the side streets. There is every manner of fun under the sun in this all encompassing street. You cannot go to South Street without seeing the murals, Lorenzos pizza, Bob & Barbara's dive bar, and the Tattooed Mom.
