Located in Southeast Texas on the Neches River about 90 mi (140 km) east of Houston (city center to city center), Beaumont had a population of 118,296 at the time of the 2010 census, making it the twenty-fourth-most populous city in the state of Texas.

We came here out of boredom and found a magical place. This marsh is easily accessible and has a wonderful wooden dock that brings you in the middle of the water. If you have more time I strongly suggest walking one of the many trails. We saw many different kinds of birds and insects, a few gators close up and a curious racoon that was hunting near the banks.
