Awesome trip , both the captain & the tour guide were super nice & knowledgeable. We learnt a lot about salmon & fish farming , it was great! The guide out at sør Gjæsingan was also very nice , friendly & knowledgeable, very enjoyable. We got a delicious hot meal , salmon of course, it was very good, especially since we ate out on the dock with the spectacular view.
Vaeremsfeltet is an old settlement from the old Iron Age. Vaeremsfeltet consists of old grave mounds, building sites in ring formation and old cooking sites. Just few metres from the Vaeremsfeltet there’s a small “cabin” in witch you can sit down and enjoy the view and your lunch. If you contine down the pretty steep path towards the river, there’s a nice hiking route past Vaerem Farm and back to Bergsmo and the parking area. Acess: From Grong: Drive towards Namsos and Bergsmo, 5 km from Grong you'll see a sigth sign that says Vaeremsfeltet on you left hand side of the road. Parking area.
Sandstien follows a very old path from the Middle Ages or earlier, from Storsand to Hov in Kirkebygda. It was an important route both for local communication and for travellers to the West Coast of Norway. It is marked in the Hurum Coastal path brochures and information boards have been set up several places along this route. It is protected by conservation laws.
