LOVE this mountain biking park!! Trails for all skills levels, and a pump track in the middle that will wear out any kid quickly! Even if mountain biking isn't your thing, the mountain view alone is worth the drive up there!

We started at the trailhead in Johnson City and took the trail almost 6 miles, ending in Elizabethton near Sycamore Shoals. The path is clear and has lovely historic markers along the way. Plenty of benches are available as are mile markers about every 0.2 miles. The only issues are access to restrooms/porta potties are limited on the trail. Lighting is also an issue if you are planning to go in the evening. The trail currently spans 9.6 miles. I would love to see this finished at 10 miles as the course would make an excellent 10 miler run course.

Founders Park is one of Johnson City's most favorable community parks & green space offering walking paths, sculptures, a creek, and special events. Dogs are always welcome. On occasion, there are food trucks set up in the park as well as live music on Fridays.
Several times my friend & I have ordered take-out from one or two restaurants in Johnson City & walked to the park for a picnic. There is plenty of space to throw down a blanket & enjoy the great outdoors. It's usually pretty quiet & not too crowded.

Very informative and pleasant hike. I learned new things about our environment and the mayor of Johnson City was there, who emphasized her interest in nature preservation around Johnson City.
