Powder Mountain

With over 8,000 acres of pristine terrain and a maximum or 1,500 day tickets available, we are a one of a kind winter resort you have to experience to believe. Powder Mountain is renown for it's incredible powder skiing, 100% natural snow and the best cat skiing and heli skiing terrain around. With a throwback family feel and two acres per skier/rider, the slopes are never overcrowded. Known to locals as Pow Mow, this mountain provides a variety of terrain and opportunities for your first time on the slope grom, to the expert cliff dropping ripper.

Drove over from Colorado on a recommendation from my son. Up until then had never heard of Powder Mountain. So glad we took his advice. This is old school skiing with slower quad chairs and smaller lodges where you can still hang your boot bag on the wall. If showing off your latest ski clothing is your thing then Snow Basin or Park City might be a better choice. If skiing all day down virgin powder and never crossing the same tracks twice is your thing then this is the place for you. Most of the runs are just smile on your face fun. The place is just plain huge and your choices of going down are just about unlimited. We only stayed two days but are definitely returning for a week next time. I read a couple of reviews stating how unfriendly the staff was and I must say that was not our experience at all. Everyone was extremely helpful and friendly. As a matter of fact when we first donned our skis up at the Hidden Lake Lodge a couple of hosts came up and asked us if this was our first time here and when we said yes they asked us if we would like a guided tour of the mountain. My first question was how much? The answer was nothing, this is what we do and so for the next hour and half the five of were escorted all over the mountain and had some favorite runs pointed out to us. Nice service for first time visitors. We all had a great time and decided we'll be back.

Six of us, all adults, headed up for snow tubing....but it was raining lightly when we got there, and we didn't even know if we were going to commit! The parc was open, and the guys staffing the place were game if we were. They allowed us to try a run before buying a pass. It only took that one run and we were hooked! Purchased 2-hour passes, which I think was plenty. We were the only ones there, so I can't speak about when it's crowded. There are 2 runs, one shorter and one a bit longer with more turns. Height requirement of 42" and they don't allow two people riding in the same tube, so children would have to go down alone. Black rubber mats are set into the last few feet of each run to act as brakes at the end. Just a few steps and then the tow rope pulls you back up to the top (a worker hooks your tube on). Relaxing ride to catch your breath and enjoy the mountain view & the skiers at Nordic Valley next door. The runs got faster, the more we packed the wet snow down. There are removable plastic bottoms that can go on the tubes to slow them down just a bit. They made us put the bottoms on after a couple of us went up too high on the last turn and into the protective fence (soft landing, not scary). So, they're very watchful, tell you when you can start from the top, and want to keep everyone safe. I happen to disagree with the reviews that found the staff lacking in assistance and safety awareness. We got the guys out in the rain for us, and they were helpful and friendly. There's no warming hut or food....just the shed where you sign paperwork. No toilets, so you must walk 5-7 mins over to Nordic Valley's ski lodge next door to use theirs. Food/drinks there also. Helpful hint: if it's at all inclement, rainy or snowing, be sure to wear goggles and waterproof outer layer. You'll stay drier and warmer, especially your face, and you'll have a blast!

Nordic Valley Ski Resort

If you’re into mountain biking and just happen to be in the Salt Lake City Utah area then get packing for a day trip. Head north out of SLC in the direction of Ogden & the winter resorts of Snow Basin toward Powder Mountain. Talk about picturesque. As you approach the cute little township of Eden you pass a lovely lake with a spit of land with a camp site and a beach thereon. Once at Nordic valley the down hill track is a winner for the skilled MTB fraternity. The kids have a really fun water slide and trampoline to keep them busy if they don’t want to venture out on the other trail. I got lucky, weather was superb, the kiosk was well stocked and people super friendly. $20 will give you an all day pass for the chair lift. To finish off my afternoon there was a live band to entertain as the sun went down. Take the kids and go enjoy this little gem of an area. VICKI Sydney Australia
