Shillong (English: /ʃɪˈlɔːŋ/; Khasi: Shillong) is a hill station in the northeastern part of India and the capital of Meghalaya, which means "The Abode of Clouds" and is one of the smallest states in India. It is the headquarters of the East Khasi Hills district and is situated at an average altitude of 4,908 feet (1,496 m) above sea level, with the highest point being Shillong Peak at 6,449 feet (1,966 m). Shillong is the 330th most populous city in India with a population of 143,229 according to the 2011 census. We entered the museum at 9.30 am...we showed our Identification card and then Armed force police allowed us to enter. Its a really great place where almost everything about the life of Army, their posts, uniform, aircrafts, badges etc are preserved. An interesting place to visit.

Collection of over a 100 variety of butterflies found mainly in the north east India. Also has a collection of other insects. Must visit for students. This is a residential house. Hence one must be ready to wait for a long time to gain entry during holiday season.
