The 6 Best Museums in Chamartín, Community of Madrid

March 3, 2022 Kandra Bartel

So many of Madrid’s buildings look like castles, you’ll think you’ve stumbled into a fairytale. Even City Hall is astounding, with its white pinnacles and neo-Gothic features. A self-guided architecture tour can begin by the great bear statue in the central Puerta del Sol. Wander by the fanciful Royal Palace before absorbing the natural beauty of Retiro Park, then visit one of the city’s many museums. You could happily cap off each day by nibbling on forkfuls of paella while sipping Spanish rioja.

Centro de Exposiciones Arte Canal

I went to the gaming exhibition at Fundacion Canal and was blown away by the quality and size of the expo. I could have spent all day there, but kept it to 3 hours. For only 9 euros, I got a complete history of video games from the 1970s to the present with every single game available to play. I had a fantastic time. This location can't be missed and, though it's not in the city centre, is an easy trip by metro to Plaza de Castilla on the blue line.

Museo Nacional de Ciencias Naturales

The National Museum of Natural Sciencies: a unique place in Madrid. From December 2010 new exhibits of Geology, Zoology, Paleontology and Human Evolution are on display. It is worth a visit!

I am not very fond of animals or science, but I really enjoyed the visit to this museum. It is specially interesting the room dedicated to Charles Darwin, the one to the Charles the Third and his interest for botany, and the one dedicated to Ramón y Cajal.
