A lot of fun to visit for an hour or so and a great cafe. The exhibits represent much of the wildlife in the new england area. I really liked the dinosaur exhibit. It was super cool. UNE is fantastic.

We were so fortunate to have Rose Lovelock ( indigenous uni lecturer) explain the use of and history/ cultural context associated with the items on display which was so incredibly educational. Especially for me from NZ but no less for my Ozzie husband. In particular the tribal language groups map on the wall was astounding - the historical complexity and organisation of the first peoples is breathtaking. The damage heartbreaking. This should be the number To Do!

New England Regional Art Museum (NERAM) is home to a number of nationally significant collections of Australian art including the Howard Hinton Collection (1880s-1930s); the Chandler Coventry Collection(1960s-80s) and the NERAM Collection (1980s- present day). These collections include paintings, drawings, prints and sculpture. The exhibitions program includes the permanent exhibition 'HINTON: Treasures of Australian art' featuring over 130 works from the Howard Hinton Collection as well as visiting exhibitions by visiting and local artists with something for everyone to enjoy. Gifts, souvenirs, cards and books are available from The Museum Shop. The Museum of Printing is also open on Tuesday and Sunday afternoons to explore the history of communications and printing in Australia. Entry to NERAM is by donation.
This was one of the stops on the Guided Heritage Tour taken from the Armidale Visitor Centre. As the stop also enabled us to visit the next door Aboriginal Cultural Centre we lost time in this venue before heading to the Art Museum where we then had limited time to take in the wonderful art on display here. Hence, we returned by car that same afternoon and did a separate and longer visit to be able to really appreciate these works of art collected by 1 man. If you don't have time to make a separate visit and only do this whilst on the bus tour, make sure you leave time to have a good look here first.

We visited the museum as part of the Heritage Bus Tour and enjoyed a talk about the history of the railway in New England. It was really good.
