The Little Theatre Gateshead

Reviewed By martinidoc - London, United Kingdom

We have been visiting this theatre for a few years for the productions by the Progressive Players. They are all of a high standard, however the most recent production of Frankenstein, was particularly memorable. The gothic set was rightly greeted with enthusiastic applause at curtain up. The players were faultless. This could have been a West end production. I wouldn't normally go to see a horror movie, but, this adaption of the original play, was really gripping and executed to the highest standard. The theatre itself is a charming art deco building, with a bustling bar upstairs and tea room downstairs. Booking is simple, and you can even get a downloaded ticket on your smart phone, which even some larger theatres can't manage. It really is a jewel in the crown of Gateshead

Tyneside Cinema

At the Tyneside Cinema, we give a trip to the pictures the sense of occasion it deserves. We show the best films in stylish and beautiful surroundings, and our varied programme ranges from brilliant films from all over the world to the best Hollywood has to offer. As the last surviving Newsreel theatre still operating as a cinema full-time in the UK, our Grade II-listed building is an important, must-see piece of heritage, not just regionally, but nationally too and it has been lovingly restored to preserve and celebrate the grandeur of its original 1937 art deco design.

We're regular visitors to the Tyneside Cinema as we have friends tickets which provide discounts in all the facilities and are great value for anyone who enjoys visiting especially on regular basis which we now do. We have sat in all of the different screen studio screens and love them all so comfy - some smaller, some larger - the circle upstairs on the lare chairs and sofas are fab. We followed up with a meal in the Tyneside Tearooms burgers, sharing a lovely fresh side salad and ime made chips with apple pie and custard to follow and couple of bottles of beer. Great food and service - just what was needed after a relaxing cinema experience - we'll be back soon x Very accessible too xxx

Vue Cinema Gateshead

Fantastic cinema in a handy location. I walked in, used ticket machine to buy tickets and walked upstairs to screen. VIP seats are highly recommended for an extra £2. I didn't get the obligatory kicks in the back of the seat due to the space. Saw a great film(1917) in a fantastic atmosphere. Highly recommended.

Everyman Cinema

Movie Theatre/Cinema with bar and restaurant

Reviewed By lvsv1 - Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom

This venue and experience is everything I want in a cinema. The venue is in an old converted underground nightclub (ah the memories!) which is centrally located on Grey Street. The bar waiting area is comfortable and the staff have always been happy, chatty and generally very helpful and accommodating of each of our visits, both as a family and as a couple. There a multiple screens, each of which are small in size (great), and have very comfortable sofa style seating with absolutely bags of leg room to stretch out. Food and drinks (including alcohol) can be served in the bar and the screens which is a total bonus. I can't speak highly enough of this cinema, and those bemoaning the cost have totally missed the point. If you are happy with the cheap and crowded environment and simply want to see a film and you're not bothered where, then fill your boots and go to Vue or Odeon (the latter not actually that cheap). However if you want a boutique cinema experience, with surroundings, service to match and away from the crowds, then this is your place!
