Great location, few decent pubs and restaurants around, Helpful staff, comfy beds. Plenty of parking. It's pretty quiet for the location (near the M1) Couple of issues we've had which is not related to the staff. 1) The room could do with an extra chair & table. (Eating dinner on your lap in bed is not the best option) We only found out towards the end of our stay that we could eat downstairs in the area breakfast would be served. - Would have preferred to know this before arriving, but I think this is an issue ibis management need to communicate. 2) Due to COVID the rooms aren't being serviced unless you ask for this to be done. This wasn't an issue as we ended up using the laundromat to dry our towels. However, would have been nice to be warned in advance. 3) There is no breakfast due to COVID. This isnt an issue as there are a few cafes and restaurants about. (If you're desperate for a coffee, McDonalds is near by) Couple of tips 1) Place a towel on the floor of the bathroom floor, the metal step from the bathroom is a bit of a risk, so use extreme care as you leave the shower. 2) the shower head isn't designed for tall folks, so prepare to bend down to wash your hair. 3) Ask for an extra pillow. There is only one pillow per side of the bed, which can be a bugger if youre used to sleeping with 2 X pillows. Other than that, a pretty good stay.

I stayed for two weeks in March/April 2022 whilst on business. The accommodation is excellent - clean, modern and comfortable. The shower room is properly equipped, spacious and of excellent quality. My room had a balcony, and although the view is not great, the balcony is still a restful place to chill. The desk, power points and good WiFi make Springs an excellent place for work when on business. The large, wall-mounted TV allows you to login on your Netflix or Amazon account and has a heap of other channels. Suzie at reception was helpful, friendly, welcoming and informative. Note that Uber drivers always need to be told the Motel entrance is on the 3rd floor of the car park or they'll wait in the street! There are several good eating spots/pubs/takeaways within short walking distance and Diggers (connected by a walkway) is also a good place to eat, I highly recommend Springs to business travellers.
The Colliery Inn Wallsend is a corner local pub, on the outskirts of Newcastle NSW with a bistro, sports bar, beer garden and pub accommodation. The pub has recently had a make-over. Décor, beverage, food and entertainment options have been revitalised. There are also 8 brand new accommodation rooms. Enjoy a friendly atmosphere, pub feeds, cold beverages and live sports on big screen TV’s, and lots of weekly activities keep you entertained. Drop in with your mates. The focus is to provide “old school” pub hospitality and turn The Colliery back in to the social hub of the community it once was in Wallsend!

We were allocated the unit nearest the road and as a result barely slept a wink- it was like sleeping at a truck stop! The unit was clean though and well presented, although the noise made it somewhere i could not recommend. I wish the host had been more honest about the extreme road noise upfront

Conveniently located for our purposes, the apartment was clean and well appointed. Easy access, secure parking, all amenities including laundry and kitchen items provided. Secure garage parking was a plus, but very tight to get into with anything more than a small vehicle. Strict rules on numbers, noise and parties, but for us this was a plus as it meant a quiet and restful stay.
