The Old Kent Estates, originally developed in the mid 1800s, is one of the earliest established coffee plantations in Southern India. William Roland Wright, a Colonel in the British Army led to the transformation of this 200-acre estate from a jungle in which big game abound to a cultivated plantation and a delightful home to his family. First constructed in 1864, the stately bungalow has been fully restored to its former charm & glory and has vignettes of the by gone colonial era and houses several rooms. As a tribute to the Wright Family, each room is fondly named after one of the family members who once inhabited within. The property has been designed keeping in mind its rich history and tradition, ensuring the conservation and preservation of the natural surroundings, within an exclusive boutique setting. Each English cottage with its own private garden provides the utmost privacy, Get pampered with the Old Kent hospitality and experience the tranquil life of a typical estate owner in British India. We checked in yesterday and are with our friends and kids. We selected the property because of the online review but seems wrong choice. The property is deteriorated and the linen is old and torn. Pics attached for reference. Even after giving a feedback this morning, nothing has changed. We have returned after a day of site seeing and nothing has changed. Disappointed!

Overall, I had a great experience with The Birchwood Retreat, staff was incredibly helpful, and the amenities were great. The room was wonderful, clean, and perfect for a family get together. The only advice from my side is to increase the speed of F&B service. Would recommend to others??

Nestled amid 40 acres of coffee plantations, peppered with vines of redolent cardamom, this hideout, far from the city din is perfect for those seeking a quiet and unperturbed time in the lap of nature. The meandering roads through verdant hills will lead you to this Coorg homestay, and once you arrive, there would be a caretaker to greet you and take you in.
We, a group of 7, visited Coorg in November, 2018 and zeroed in on Brindavan Estate for our stay. Right from the time we contacted Mr. Rohith, owner of the property, we knew we had made the correct choice. Mr. Rohith was kind enough to guide us on our stay, meal options and sightseeing choices. The tranquility, freshness of the estate hits you the moment you step into it. Mornings are a treat to watch and take a walk around. You get to learn a lot about the plantation and could actually get your hands on some oranges, pepper, coffee etc. which grow in the estate. Siddu, the caretaker, is a one man show . Food prepared for both breakfast and dinner was delicious and fulfilling. Coffee was a standout. The rooms are thoughtfully and tastefully designed with very comfortable beds. The pool was in an idyllic location with forest cover all around. Overall, an excellent getaway from the bustling city life.
