Generally excellent

Very pleasant staff and an excellent room. My problem with Premier Inn hotels is the air freshener. On arrival in the room, the air conditioning comes on automatically and I can immediately detect the the nasty, artificial smell. Like many people, I have asthma. Within a few minutes, I find myself coughing and wheezing. I recently had exactly the same reaction at Premier Inn, Princes Street, Edinburgh. After a few hours in the room, the initial smell diminishes and my breathing improves. Due to a design fault, the windows cannot be opened to obtain fresh air. I wish Premier Inn could remove this unnecessary, unpleasant product from their air conditioning systems. I also wish the windows could be opened, so we could avoid using the air conditioning.

The Cricketers' Arms

The Cricketers Arms is the ideal place to stay whether you’re on business, travelling to the airport, attending a wedding or simply visiting the area. We have 10 beautiful, individually designed bedrooms all with en-suite facilities and lots of homely touches. All have really comfortable king or super kingsize beds, with good linen, luxurious throws and piles of cushions, as well as powerful showers, fluffy white towels and lovely toiletries. One room even has a stunning free-standing bath. There’s also a digital flat screen television, direct dial telephone and free Wi-Fi in every room to use during your stay and you can treat yourself to champagne and chocolates on arrival, too.We have a choice of rooms from doubles, superior doubles and twins to junior suites and family rooms – three have their own staircase up from the restaurant so you can put the children to bed and enjoy a relaxed supper. Eat, and sleep well and have a hearty English breakfast the next day. Enjoy great value too; rooms start at £65 for the night, with a family room costing £135, including breakfast. As well as being ideal for getting to or from Stansted airport, the Cricketers Arms is just a stone’s throw from Parklands in Quendon, so if you’re attending a wedding there and need somewhere to stay, just give us a call. Excellent Sunday lunch good beer and wine. Good service. Shame about lack of disabled loo and poor disabled access into to pub. Ample parking, nice location. You might catch the local cricket match on a Saturday.

Saffron Suite And Kitchen

Saffron Walden takes the second parts of its name from the threatening fortification of Walden Castle, erected by the Normans after the Conquest, and the first from the rare and precious saffron crocus, for which the town became famous, used in medicine, cooking and as the source of a rich yellow dye. The hotel has 16 en-suite bedrooms (all 100% non smoking) which all have tea/coffee and ironing facilities. The hotel also has a paneled Restaurant and Lounge/Bar area. We also cater for functions including parties and weddings in our Saffron Suite.

Basic room only hotel

Reviewed By georgematthews

Stayed for 3 nights recently for a local wedding. The room was small but clean and reasonably appointed. Was paying £100/night so expected more. The lounge area down stairs was only open from 3 to 9 pm when the receptionist was present so there was nowhere to relax or for people to wait outside of these times. The restaurant was closed so this was a room only accommodation. The first room I was allocated was duplex and had no Wi-Fi and was not suitable. Luckily they had a free room that the receptionist moved me to. She was very pleasant and did her best to help. My new room had the window wedged open and whilst it had blinds it had no curtains. As a result I awoke every morning at 5am and struggled to sleep with the traffic noise. I have stayed in this hotel before and was very disappointed at how it had declined.
