*** The Old School in Harsz is a great place to relax after a busy season. This is a place where no one is tormented with empty conversations. One is allowed to be oneself, and live own way. At the same time, every guest feels at home. The food is delicious, the rooms are cozy and the view is absolutely amazing.

We spent one week there in an almost familiar atmosphere. We were welcomed nicely. Unfortunately we were not given a room with balcony and sea view but a room in the basement with a porch instead. We had booked through booking.com and obviously there was no option to specify a particular room, at least at time of booking. We learned that the sea-view rooms are in a different price category. Since we were planning to visit a lot of Masuren / Mazury and wont spend a lot of time in house we did not complain. However, there are so many midgets at dawn that a balcony would most likely not have been nice to have. The room was large enough to keep all our luggage and our growing stock of purchases and souvenirs. The bathroom was clean and light and had a sink, a shower and toilet. The windows are equipped with insect grids. The separate corridor contains a cabinet. Breakfast is served in the large room which over the day can be used by the guests as well. The breakfast menu itself is good and consists of various cereals, bread and rolls. You can have coffee or tea, fried or scrambled eggs. Over the day you can help yourself with beer, coke, coffee etc., you will be charged a quite fair price which reflects the low prices in Poland. The owner is always very helpful and likes a chat now and then. He speaks German and Polish. The large estate has a few lonely spots where you have direct access to the shore, they are very nice to spend a few hours - provided there are no midgets. During our week we were invited to a music night with a local band. There was a camp fire where they offered a very good local stew and you could roast sausages. The band played kind of Irish folk with Polish lyrics, it was a very nice and long night, all guests attended the show and we had a few beers and nasty spirits :-) You have to pay cash, either in Zloty or Euro. There are restaurants close by, you can walk there in about 10 minutes. They serve various dishes, all have English or German menu cards. We enjoyed our week very much and would return, next time we would book the more expensive "lake view" rooms in advance.
