Needs Updating

Reviewed By Cherie S

Arrived at 2pm to find out doors were locked till 3pm so had to wait for checkin. Lady was welcoming and showed us to our room. The room was very tired and needed updating. 1970s box tv on the wall so high up almost got a kink in my neck. The roof paint was peeling off and there were spiders in most corners. Furniture very old and stained. Spiderwebs around windows. Latch on bathroom window so corroded couldn't close.. Couldn't regulate water in shower. The shhets on the bed were thin and towels could be updated. The motel block was back off the road so was very quiet. Give it a good clean and coat of paint and it would be great. Had dinner at restaurant. Fantastic meal, huge roast. Staff were so pleasant and couldn't falter. Great atmosphere.

Amazing venue and home baked food

So glad we stopped here for morning tea. Excellent coffee. My friend said the the mince and cheese pie was the best he ever tasted and the Anzac cookies are wonderful! Huge rimu rafters and posts support the building but ask to see the old Cafe. The ceiling spine is an entire tree!!!

Karamea Farm Baches

Wonderful Hospitality

Reviewed By Ying_Th

I stayed 2 nights here at the end of Heaphy. It was ran by Paul, who owned Rongo's as well, and Paul was such a wonderful host. I got out of the trail close to 8pm and managed to arrange for a pick up, which was a life saver as this was a remote region. On the way to town, Paul was regaling me with stories of the region. Even though it was past dinner time, his team scrounge some dinner for me. The Baches were a walking distance to town and had cute retro deco. My cabin was very comfortable and just perfect for a end-of-hike relaxation. I enjoyed the small-town hospitality and highly recommend a stay.
