Step off the planet into this paradise

We spent 4 idyllic days in this remote beautiful island with a population of 200. Our experience was superb because we stayed at Nino's. This is a one horse island and Nino's is where all the action is. The ferry brings in some day trippers and even less tourists and they all congregate at Nino's. We rented a beautiful room with a huge terrace overlooking the Mediterranean Sea and also overlooking Nino's pergola/ restaurant. Donatella( Nino's daughter. Nino is no more) runs the show and is a very kind hostess. We had many meals there, all excellent. The morning pastry baking was downright dangerous because of the heavenly smell that engulfed me when I walked into the dining area every morning to get my morning tea. There were cannolis, cassatta, pasta di mandorla, croissants filled with pistachio creme and chocolate, cakes, cookies, -----. I wanted to try them all, and I almost did. When it got too hot and sunny on the terrace, Donatella provided us with an umbrella and stand because it was cool in the shade with the constant Mediterranean breeze. Every day when the aquamarine sea beckoned, I would walk down to the rocky beach and swim in the warm water. The fresh catch of the day was bountiful, so we ate well in the restaurant. On our last morning, as we were departing this little island of friendly people, when I saw a couple running towards the ferry. We had met them a few times in the Pergola, as they were part of an English speaking Australian contingent who summered in Filicudi with family members. We were barely acquaintances and they had come to wish us good bye! I liked it so much that I want to return for a month next time.

Hotel Phenicusa, July 18

I staid at this hotel with my family in July 18. It is a family run business just next to the port. It has a nice balcony overlooking the sea, which we enjoyed particularly at the sunset. The family was welcoming and always happy to accommodate our requests. Valentino, the husband and cocktail expert, made us feel precious and well looked after. I would go back to this hotel.

An unpleasant surprise

Currently applied rules for hygiene are not followed by any of the staff. The owner tells us not to wear a mask inside, and he would make fun of guests who do. Novax and nomask persons will feel welcome here, other people perhaps a bit less. Other than that the view from the room is marvelous, the food is excellent, breakfast not exceptional.

Quite adventourously I arrived at Filicudi with no hotel or room booked and out of charge phone! The taxi drivers suggested me this place and they were really really helpful, organized a room for me in no time (excellent price!). The room was cute and sparkling clean. For the price I did not expect such a nice room and service! Unfortunately I only had 1 night there but I look forward visiting again. Note: the position is perfect to wander around the island to visit different beaches and /or trekking around as it is central and elevated from sea level.

La Casa Del Pescatore

Esperienza molto positiva nel monolocale con la terrazza e con vista mare

Reviewed By Fede3007

Casa ben arredata, molto luminosa, pulita e accogliente. Splendida terrazza con vista mare e ottima posizione nella località che a mio parere è la più bella dell’isola. A pochissimi passi dal mare e a pochissimi passi dal supermercato di Pecorini. Torneremo sicuramente.
