In May it can still be quite cold in this part of Italy, so I was looking forward to a warm hotel room and shower. The first challenge presented itself on arrival, no-one at reception, no-one in the restaurant, it took some searching to find someone to show me my room, though once found everyone was very friendly. The room was simple, clean, a bit old, and very cold. The bathroom was small and the shower an afterthought. I somehow could not get comfortable, slept badly and left early before breakfast. Perhaps on a warm day my experience would have been different, but as it was I did not feel at home.

Excellent, homemade food, an enjoyable selection of wines, friendly service and a scenic view from the garden and clean, nice rooms made our stay in La Forestiera perfect. This was probably the best location on our bicycle tour through the Tuscan Appennin

Hotel staff was friendly and dinner was great! It felt like real Italy. When I was there, there was a group of Italians there on a mushroom hunting weekend. Everything just felt right. Very convenient to the rest of the town. I wish I had more time here.

The Lodge is nestled in the forest of Casentino, just 5 minutes from the center of Badia Prataglia, the building is equipped with: double, triple or quadruple with bathroom .Some double and triple rooms have bunk beds. The availability of shelter beds covering the filling of a coach. Inside there is: dining room, a common room for meetings with projector and DVD player, a multipurpose room and a small meeting room. The refuge provides a bar and restaurant, also has a large "parking space" outside for cars. Free WIFI throughout the hotel. The hiking trails that pass close to the Refuge are 60, 72 and the "Footpath Frassati Tuscany"
It is a really cute and modest Rifugio hidden in the mountains very close to the small city. The surrounding is amazing and heartcapturing. I offer and recommend to anybody who wants to sense the real nature with great and lovely people who do everything for you to feel comfortable. They organize several programmes to give you opportunities to look around in the countryside (for example tours in the nicest places in the forest, "safari" at night to see the animals of the forest, etc.) In the small restaurant you cannot stop eating delicious foods in the evenings. Forget your diet. :-) Modest and clean rooms give you perfect place to discover again yourself. It is a good solution if you want to hide away from the noise of the world, if you want to rest and recharge your energies or if you want to really experience the silence, the peace of the nature.

The Mechelli family offers in the center of the touristc town of Badia Prataglia apartments and rooms with all conforts, in summer and winter. It is also possible to have breakfast, lunch and dinner at Bar Vittoria, a delicious small restaurant that offers the typical products of the Casentino valley.
I stayed here Nov 2018 when doing a few days walking along the so-called GEA trail. Decent size apartment, particularly given price. Friendly owners who own a restaurant just up the road that does nice Italian food. Even gave me a lift to a starting point the next morning which saved me no end of pain later in the day! So overall, a very good stay.
