The Bay of Plenty (Māori: Te Moana-a-Toi) is a large bight in the northern coast of New Zealand's North Island. It stretches from the Coromandel Peninsula in the west to Cape Runaway in the east, a wide stretch of some 259 km of open coastline. The Bay of Plenty Region is situated around this body of water, also incorporating several large islands in the bay. The bay was named by James Cook after he noticed the abundant food supplies at several Māori villages there, in stark contrast to the earlier observations he had made in Poverty Bay.

Definitely can say that this was one of the best treks I’ve ever been on and I’ve been on a fair few. I went on a trek here last week and absolutely loved it, in fact loved it so much I went back for another trek in the same week! :D The first trek we rode for 2hrs and the second time we rode for 4! Loved it :) Was also really reasonably priced! We rode straight into the New Zealand bush, no part looked the same, it was so beautiful with amazing views! I rode Theresa and she was so enthusiastic, amazing horse to ride, she loved going for a canter as much as I did, which was awesome for me :) The guide, John, was really nice, knowledgeable about the area and amazing with the horses. I learnt so much from him and have been inspired with my own approach and handling of horses. Thank you so so so much, really loved it, hope to trek with you again sometime!
