Award-winning layout with greater changes of elevation than are usually found at other links-style golf courses. Royal Aberdeen Golf Club in Aberdeen, Scotland, was founded in 1780 as the Society of Golfers at Aberdeen and became the Aberdeen Golf Club in 1815. Until 1888 members played on the Queen's Links close to the city before moving across the River Don to the links at Balgownie. The Course was originally designed by the Simpson Brothers, Archie and Robert of Carnoustie and later re-bunkered and lengthened by James Braid. Hawtree & Company are now engaged as the Club's architects to ensure our classic links keeps pace with the modern game. Host to many of the worlds top golfing events such as the Walker Cup 2011, Aberdeen Asset Scottish Open 2014 and the Amateur Championship 2018. The club's 'Royal' patronage was awarded by Edward VII in 1903.
Best course in Scotland in my opinion. Including the old course, Kingsbarns, both trump courses. Absolutely stunning. Not too hard but not easy by any stretch.

Murcar Links is an attractive 18 hole course situated on the coast of Aberdeenshire, 10 minutes from Aberdeen city centre with superb views across the North Sea. Murcar Links has risen to No 96 in the Golf Monthly Top 100 courses and 47th in Scotland’s Top 100 courses 2019 by National Club Golfer. The course, originally designed by Archie Simpson and revised by James Braid, it is located on a classic stretch of links land with massive sand dunes, undulating fairways, and is covered in whins and heather with some magnificent views across the North Sea. Playing Murcar Links is a truly memorable and rewarding experience where each hole offers its own challenge.
This was the first course of our trip to North East Scotland, one I knew nothing much about, which I thought was going to be the disappointing starter before the main course of Trump International then Carnoustie to finish. One of the lads met a member there online (Jim) who was the most welcoming host I’ve ever met in 25 years of playing golf, with Murcar ball markers for his guests on arrival, and luckily I got the draw to play with him on the day!! Absolute top top class practice facilities on arrival, we’ll stocked pro shop, bar and restaurant with spectacular views over the North Sea and UNBELIEVABLE golf course. I rate it as high as almost any golf course in the UK, and I’ve had the good fortune of having played most of the open courses and a member at Silloth Golf Club. Not a single bad hole, unbelievable condition, views, and everything you’d expect from a top top venue. This is a MUST VISIT course, and I absolutely cannot wait to return ASAP, hopefully October. You won’t be disappointed!!!!!!!!

Built at the mouth of Aberdeen Harbour and bounded by the North Sea, the views available up and down the coast as well as across the busy harbour with the city beyond are simply breathtaking. Widely acknowledged as one of the best municipal 18-hole courses in Scotland, James Braid, Archie Simpson and the Hawtree family all had a hand in carving out this coastal golf experience. Found in the heart of a local conservation area, the stunning layout requires nerve and balance in equal measure. Balnagask is a distinctive golf course offering a great variety of golf holes in a spectacular setting. The golfer will enjoy the naturally rolling coastal landscape offering hidden fairways, elevated tees, gorse walled ravines and a host of interesting features including the historic Girdleness Lighthouse and medieval Torry Battery.
