The 6 Best Ghost & Vampire Tours in Wisconsin, United States

January 18, 2022 Roseanne Arnett

When you think “adventure travel” you probably think of far-flung places like Belize and Alaska—not Wisconsin. But if you’re an outdoor adventurer, you’ll find plenty of places to explore in Wisconsin. A vacation in Wisconsin can put you close to the Kettle Moraine State Forest, which has excellent biking trails. Or choose Wisconsin’s Apostle Islands—kayakers will love exploring Lake Superior’s many caves and shipwrecks.

Packers fans don’t wear those cheese-wedge hats for nothing! Foodies will love tasting as many of Wisconsin’s artisanal cheeses as possible. Either drive from cheesemaker to cheesemaker, or choose a Wisconsin vacation in a town with a good farmers’ market—then the cheesemakers bring their wares to you. And what goes better with artisanal cheese than craft beer? In Milwaukee, visit the Lakefront and Sprecher Breweries for tours and tastings.

Wisconsin Dells is a classic family vacation destination. A vacation in Wisconsin Dells will put you close to all the excitement—you’ll have to tear the kids away from the theme parks, wave pools and water parks in Wisconsin Dells!

Lake Geneva boasts clean beaches, golf, and a small-town feel that definitely appeals to city dwellers—it’s a popular getaway for residents of Chicago.

My partner decided to do a ghosthunt in Chicago on a Friday night to learn a little bit more about the neighborhood we live in, and boy we're glad we did it! Tony is the BEST tour guide--super knowledgeable about the historical, the strange, the weird, and the paranormal! We started off in front of the history museum and wound our way through Lincoln Park, around the zoo, and eventually ended up at a nondescript parking lot down the street from us which happens to be the site of the St. Valentine's Day massacre. Along with his encyclopedic knowledge, Tony brought some ghost hunting gear for our little group, so we had fun chasing EMF around the park while hearing stories of the various hauntings. All in all, this is a fantastic experience, well worth your time if you like history and ghost stories.

The haunted trolley will take you to the darker side of the Dells. Prepare to learn about the hidden side of the Dells & the surprising haunted history they try to cover up! We visit a very haunted cemetery, discuss multiple haunted locations and tell you the frightening details. There are stops where we get off of the trolley, if you dare. We will look for orbs (watch out for the red orbs.) We will use our ghost meter in the search for spiritual energy. Fancy marketing has kept the death and tragedy hidden in the Dells, until now. We are going to tell & show you what they don't want you to know. Some of these stories may keep you up at night. Join us on the Haunted Dells Trolley tour and become a believer!

6. Private Walking Historical Ghost Tour of Madison

The Great Dane Pub & Brewing Company, 123 E Doty St, Madison, WI 53703, USA Travel Curious - Madison

Your tour begins at the Wisconsin Capitol Building, where in 1904, a tragic fire resulted in the death of several workmen, whose presence is still well documented by building employees. From there, you will visit one of the city’s most beautiful —and haunted — old theatres, the Majestic, whose spectres are so real that one employee approached the figure to let the man know it was time to go home, only to realize the man was an apparition. Then, see Monona Terrace up close, and see where the Old Madison jail stood, and hear tales of inmates being terrified by a spectre so alarming that they awoke the sheriff and begged for a different cell. Pass a nightclub, whose adjoining business was a funeral home, which left more than a few nightclub workers and band members some fights through the years and finally, your eery tour finishes at the Orpheum Theatre, which happens to be the final resting place for several Madison hauntings.
