Thanbyuzayat War Cemetery was created by the Army Graves Service who transferred to it all graves along the northern section of the railway, between Moulmein and Nieke. There are now 3,149 Commonwealth and 621 Dutch burials of the Second World war in the cemetery.
Another site to show respect for the fallen. Many Australians and 3 New Zealanders remembered here. So many, so young fought for the freedoms.

The views within and from the pagoda are spectacular. Why would you not put a pagoda in this perfect location? A great place to see the evening in - particularly if the sunset is wonderful!!

This is the Pagoda described by Kipling in the Road to Mandalay (By the old Mawlymayne Pagoda....). It is the biggest tourist attraction in Mawlymayne and the favourite sunset viewpoint. Another pagoda is listed and people are inaccurateley posting reviews of this pagoda to that one. It is a large Bhuddist pagoda with viewing area.

Mawlamyaine is a worth visiting city, with many tourist attraction sites including the great Golden Rock Pagoda(Kyaik Htee Yoe Pagoda) On the way, you can drop in to this Reclining Buddha, which has many floors inside the statue(4 or 5 I can't remember) where you can learn about the previous lives of Gatama Buddha. The dead body of founder monk, Win Sein Taw Ya Sayadaw, can be seen inside the building near the Buddha image. It is said the monk became 'Arahat' or 'Person having attained Nivana'. It is a must to see. The sad story about the Buddha Statue is that the construction of the statue haven't finished yet because of financial problem. And need donations. Opposite to reclining Buddha statue, there is also another reclining Buddha statue under construction. I don't think both Statue will be 100% finished construction. The founder monk was very famous and many Buddhists contributed donations. Upon the death of monk, no more donation.
