Castlegar Sculpturewalk is an annual exhibition of outdoor sculptures, located on a pleasant walking tour in downtown Castlegar. Viewers are encouraged to vote for their favourite sculpture via ballot - the winner of the People's Choice award is purchased by the City for the permanent collections. All of the artworks are available for sale or lease. Ballots/maps are located in red ballot boxes along the route (the start of the route is at the Kootenay Market (635 Columbia Avenue), though you can begin the walk from anywhere. Ballots/maps are also available at the Castlegar Chamber of Commerce, City Hall, or the Kootenay Gallery.
I stumbled across this walk over the weekend and was blown away by some of the sculpture pieces. This is an easy walk with plenty of interpretive signs along the way. I really liked the Indigenous Camas preservation area the most

A visit to this island via the suspension bridge and a visit to a replica of the house Zukerberg and his wife lived in, is well worth it. The bridge is good fun to cross, the trails are well marked and there are spots to sit, relax and watch the river's current tell you of the indigenous peoples who used it for their survival.

Paved walkway, swimming ponds, beaches, washrooms, two soccer fields, benches, and picnic tables. Enjoy pickle ball, beach volley ball, dog park and the epic BIKE pump park and ramps. Concession open in Summer.
We were on holiday from the Vancouver area. If a place as beautiful and fun as this was in the Vancouver area it would have 100s of people jammed into it daily. We went on a sunny Thursday in August and shared the ponds with maybe 15 other people. There are three swimming holes or ponds as they are called. Each is lined with sand that the city takes care of to keep clean. Two of the ponds have small water slides in them that my young kids loved. Outside of the three ponds which sit on the banks of the Columbia River the park also has a lot of other amenities. A brand new dirt bike park. Walking path along the river. Natural swimming hole in the river. Dog park. Sports fields. Well done to Castlegar for investing time and money into park space like this. I wish I lived closer so I could routinely come here with my kids.
