Strolling, shopping, and sipping tequila along the Malecon boardwalk of Puerto Vallarta is the best way to kick off your vacation. Then hit the cobblestone streets of Old Vallarta to browse the flea market for handmade crafts. The calm, warm waters of the Bay of Banderas make for excellent diving, or you can just watch artists sculpt spectacular creations in the sand. The cluster of fine art galleries in El Centro are perfect spots to hit on a self-guided art tour.

I love the art galleries in PVR! This is an event to showcase the wonderful talent by all types of artisans. There are street musicians, jewelry shops, art galleries, boutiques and restaurants that participate making this a very fun event to take part in. Highly recommend, so much fun.

We happened on this market by chance while visiting last year and loved it. Not very big but a great atmosphere and a lot of variety of different ethnic foods and fresh fruits, flowers etc. Great local arts and crafts as well and will definitely make a point to go on our next visit to PV. It’s a great activity for all!

Maze of shops that offers practically everything for tourists.
The Mercado Municipal is one of the most 'visitor friendly' markets in PV, familiar to locals, tourists and cruise ship patrons alike. It's large, hard-to-see in just one visit, friendly, and well-priced. The area is clean, crime-free (as is the majority of PV), and plenty more shops to visit and experience. Across the street is an amazing coffee shop that makes superb pizzas, and the other way is a bar/restaurant with a statue and info on Elizabeth & Richard Burton. This market is one of our perennial faves, and sure to be yours too. Paul

Great place to get little souvenirs or that last minute item. Many many different sellers. And you can barter here as well.

Local Farmers and Artisans' Market in Old Town Puerto Vallarta. Every Saturday from 9 - 1 located inside The Lion's Club.
We dropped in here mid January. Small but impressive variety of goodies and wares to buy. We were excited to find “Jewish comfort foods” and had coffee and muffins from the vendor at the door. A pleasant bonus and a small but pleasant bonus it’s downstairs in the Lions Club where we play bridge a couple of times a week while in PV.

This was the first we market we went to I know we stay in Puerto Vallarta. It's down the steps from the bridge. They're actually in between two rivers. 40 to 50 vendors over two blocks. We enjoyed it. Prices were competitive with the market we went to later in the week.
