Religious pilgrims have been traveling to Jerusalem for centuries, yet you don’t have to share their zeal in order to appreciate this city’s profound cultural and historical significance. Plan on seeing the major sights, but also leave plenty of time to walk through the streets and simply immerse yourself in the daily life of such an ancient and revered place.

worthy of a few hours to explore and shop! you won't be able to escape the shops anyways since they are on your way to anywhere you want to go inside the Old City. lots of stuff to buy, but, as our first taxi driver warned us, you've got be tough in bargaining (cut the offering price in half!), or prepare to pay a lot more since these shop-owners are pros of the pros :-) even if you don't intend to buy anything, it's a pleasant walk if you got the time, and many little snacks to try (i.e. tea and pomegranate juice)
