Crag House Farm

Came here with my extended family inc 2 small children. We had reserved and had plenty of space on the table. The activity packs provided for the children were fantastic, lots of different activities. I ordered the cheese burger which was well done as am pregnant. This was one of the best tasting burgers I have had in a long time. We ordered a variety of food, fish & chips, quiche, burgers and they were all great. I shared a raspberry frangipan with ice cream - it was huge!! Would totally recommend the granary restaurant. The plant nursery is nice and the children's play area is also good.

Meanwood Valley Urban Farm

The 24 acre Meanwood Valley Urban Farm has a variety of farm animals including alpacas, goats, sheep, pigs, hens, donkeys, and ducks. There are woodland walks, and a longer walk through our 5 acre coppice, where a variety of wildlife can be seen if you are very quiet. There is a small playground for children under 12 and you may want to take a break at the independently run Hungry Hedgehog Cafe which offers vegetarian options and facilities for warming baby food.We have our own car park and there is a Farm Shop with toys, gifts, plants and produce grown on the farm and fresh farm eggs.

We've been going to the farm for years as a couple, especially in the spring to see the piglets ????, so I was very excited to take our little boy down when it opened after lockdown. I went down with a friend and our babies last week, one in a baby carrier and the other in a pram. He's only a baby so didn't really have a clue what was going on but was pretty transfixed with the alpacas! For a little farm there are lots of animals to see, we spotted pigs, cows, sheep, goats, ducks, chickens and the aforementioned alpacas. We've definitely seen rabbits and Guinea pigs before too. There's also a huge market garden and lots of plants and a pond to enjoy. There's a lovely farm shop (currently closed I think due to Covid) and a little cafe. We had a bite to eat at the cafe and a coffee each which was very welcome. It's such good value - £2 for adults and 50p for children over 2, under 2s are free. We got a family membership which is £25 for the year as we only live up the road and will go loads I'm sure. I have to say I'm really surprised by the negative reviews comparing it to somewhere like Cannon Hall in terms of activities and scale. If you're looking for outdoor playgrounds, tractor rides etc. then it might not be for you and you might be better visiting a commercial enterprise like Cannon Hall. This isn't a diss of Cannon Hall at all, I've been before with friends and their children and it's great, it's also £8 per adult and £8 per child over 2, so £34 per family plus parking charges. Meanwood would be £5 for a family and is a charity so it's a very different proposition. If you're looking for a little stroll, some plants and animals to entertain little ones for a couple of hours and a nice cuppa at the end then it's a fantastic place to visit and excellent value for money.

Visited for the first time today with my daughter. Great to get up close to the animals and loved the chance to bottle feed a lamb. Good to be able to feed the animals carrots and experience being licked on the hand for the first time ever by a calf, loved having its head stroked too, amazing how tame it was! Got plenty of opportunity to ask questions of the staff who are very dedicated. Sorry to say I won't be converting to being a vegetarian though. I will be back again. Oh and you get a lovely Yorkshire Brew in the cafe. Thank you x
