Come and meet our Alpacas and Llamas. All visits must be pre-booked with us. Bookings can be made via our Facebook page or by email.
Being stuck in lockdown with a 2 and a half year old whirlwind is NO fun when you can’t go and do fun stuff, so when we saw that Bardsea Alpacas were offering socially distance compliant family picnics we booked! We were greeted and taken to a very clean picnic area with the most phenomenal view, we met some of the Alpacas and Llamas walking up to the picnic area and then sat down to have our picnic. Once we had finished the Alpacas and Llama boys were let in. They were friendly, gentle and just so cute! We also met the resident sheep and her month old lamb, who were also partial to a carrot or two! We wandered around for some time feeding them and talking about them with the owner and are excited for some of the ideas that will be coming to Bardsea Alpacas soon! On our way out we were taken to meet the girls and tiny, weeny Hector... who is quite possibly the cutest animal I have ever seen! 2 weeks old and all legs! The animals are clearly much loved and very well cared for, just as the should be, and I learnt a fair bit about them whilst there too. We had a fantastic time and will, without a shadow of a doubt, be back!

Located in Santon Bridge in the Wasdale Valley, the Woolly Farm offers a unique way to explore the magnificent Lake District. With a majestic llama or an adorable alpaca by your side, walk through ancient woodland, over luscious fields and up rugged fells to find stunning views and an unforgettable experience. Llama Treks; We offer two 3-hour treks: valley and fell. The valley trek takes you through rolling fields, under ancient trees and through woodland along the base of Latter Barrow to the bottom of the valley that looks up to Scafell Pike and England’s deepest lake, Wastwater. The fell trek takes you up Irton Pike and out onto the fell, where (weather-dependent!) you'll find stunning views toward Scafell Pike. Alpaca Farm Walk; Take a walk around our picturesque 55-acre farm with one of the Woolly Yompers at your side.
What a fabulous morning we have all just had, I can’t recommend enough, even though the weather was slightly against us it didn’t dampen our spirits, we went on the hour farm walk, all over the fields and along the river. The children 9,8, 5 and 2 all had an alpaca each and couldn’t of enjoyed more! We will be back for sure. Thank you so much The Lawton family

Looking for things to do or places to visit in the Lake District & Cumbria? For children’s days out in the Lake District & Cumbria, Hadrian’s Wall or South-West Scotland Walby Farm Park has it all! Enjoy a family day out at Walby Farm Park!Fun for all the family come rain or shine! Walby Farm Park, just 4 miles from Carlisle and the M6 motorway (J44), is a great day out for the whole family. Exciting outdoor play areas, lots of animal friends, including many rare breeds and Cumbria’s biggest indoor play area, there really is something for everyone! Families, schools, groups and birthday parties can ‘Meet the Animals’, take a stroll along the farm’s nature trail or just relax in our Curly Tails Cafe, open daily serving delicious hot and cold home-cooked food.
Just returned from a brilliant day at the farm park Christmas Experience. I booked online about 6 weeks ago. Was there with my 3 year old, 9 year old and my husband. I did think it was quite expensive (which has put me off in the past to be honest) but after being today it is worth every penny. The girls loved having the passports to get stamped at different stations. The elves were all fab specially the lady elf taking the pics of people at the snow globe. There was so much to do! Meet santa (who was so friendly and lovely) choose a present, make some reindeer food to take home for christmas eve, write a letter to santa, the nativity, the panto and to top it all off the girls got to choose a bear to build. We then went into the play barn for some lunch and they played in there for a couple of hours. Would definitely recommend this event and will be back again next year.

Nestled in the Cumbrian Hills and surrounded by the Lake District lies Old Hall Farm. This is an open historic working farm, following the the farming year, therefore activities will change month by month. Each visit will be different. Typical activities on the farm include, ice cream making, shire horses working, Jersey cow milking, feeding the animals and a wide selection of vintage machinery and steam engines on display and being worked. The Chicken shed tea room is open to passing trade as well as attraction customers and serves a delicious selection of cakes, drinks and lunches. The Farm shop sells Farm produce and gifts.
We had a great visit, lots of activities. My daughter really enjoyed feeding the animals and helping around the farm. This included a pony ride, putting the Shire horses away and feeding the animals. The farm is pretty small so you do get a really intimate visit, this makes it really special, We fed the baby lambs as well as interacted with guinea pigs, piglets, baby ducks, rabbits and ponies. There is a daily itinerary of activities so get there early. It’s worth staying as long as you can. At the end of the day we helped put the animals to bed. Oh and the ice creams and tea room is fab! As well as the ride in tractors and play area.

Soft play, Go Karts, Ferrets, Farm Quiz, Tractor Rides, Trampolines, Bouncy Slide, Farm Animal Barn, Groom the pony, Pet barn, Tube Maze, Indoor Lego, Outdoor Play Area, Tractor Barn, Farm Quiz, and Seasonal activities as well. We also provide kids parties.
Visited in August 2020. Straightforward online booking (although a bit lengthy) and cost £32 for a family of 4. We have two boys aged 12 and 5 so it's good to find somewhere that will interest both of them. Lots of attractions - Animal petting - Animal feeding - Go karts (indoors and outdoors) - Panel maze - Tractor rides - Pedal toy area - Outdoor play area (including trampolines, bouncy slide, climbing frame etc) And of course the maze! There is a mini maize, and the main one. The main one takes around an hour- make sure you have the map with you so you don't get lost. It was a bit muddy underfoot so make sure you have good walking shoes or wellies with a good grip. They have a flag system so if you have a genuine emergency an attendant will come find you to get you out. The indoor play area is closed due to covid at present. Plenty of hand washing stations all around. Reasonable amount of under cover tables to eat at. We bought 3 ice creams, a chocolate bar and a drink for around £8, which is pretty reasonable for a tourist attraction (loved the double jersey icecream!). It rained on and off for most of the time we were there, but there is plenty to do undercover without this being a major issue. Timed entry and a one way system with floor marking and signage to reinforce social distancing, and masks expected for all indoor areas. Not over booked so we were happy with the level of distancing throughout. We spent around 3-4 hours there, and possibly could have stayed longer. Thoroughly enjoyable day and will probably visit again next year when they have a new design for the maze.

Hawkshead Hall farm a picturesque working farm set in 100 acres of unspoilt countryside in the heart of the Lake District. Just a quarter of a mile from the village of Hawkshead linked by a footpath from the site through the fields. The campsite has superb views on all sides of the surrounding area. There are lots of great walks from the doorstep and an abundance of wildlife deer, foxes, squirrels, swallows, curlews along with some friendly farm animals. Hawkshead Hall Farm offers camping and touring caravan pitches with or without electric hook up. There is a modern toilet and shower block with shaving points and electric sockets. A fridge for freezing ice packs, maps, information and brochures on the local area are available from reception. Pitches are unallocated, clients choose where to pitch upon arrival. Booking is advised
This is a small site set in beautiful scenery and about 10 mins walk from Hawkshead along a footpath following a stream. The facilities on this site were spotlessly clean and I would definitely use this site again.
