The mosques, bazaars, and Turkish baths of Istanbul could keep you happily occupied for your entire trip: an eyeful of breathtaking architecture here, a good-natured haggle over a carpet there. Kick your trip off at the awe-inspiring Sultan Ahmet Camii (Blue Mosque), which is visible from many points of the city. Stroll the Galata Bridge and stop by the Miniaturk Park to see its tiny artifacts. The Grand Bazaar has thousands of shops to browse, while the Egyptian Bazaar is a fragrant trove of spices and fruits.

It is the place of religious harmony in Istanbul. It should be saved as it is and never let it destroyed at any cost. I love to visit this place each and every time I visit Turkey.

Hodja Pasha auditorium is located in a historic stone building which was originally a hamam (Turkish bath) built by Hodja Sinan Pasha, minister to Sultan Mehmet in the 1470s. The entrance on the ground floor leads to a small counter where one can book tickets; although one can book tickets conveniently and economically online, the physical ticket needs to be collected from this counter. The circular chamber on the first floor is used as the performance area, with the audience seated all around. Meanwhile the foyer is used as a display area and sale counter. There are two types of events held regularly: Firstly, there is a daily “Sema Ceremony” (Performance of Whirling Dervishes) at 1900 hours daily. This is a religious/ spiritual performance which is not intended as entertainment. The background of this performance and the history of the dervishes is elaborated in the exhibition area on the first floor. Secondly, there is a variety cultural programme titled “Rhythm of the Dance” held at 2030 hours on alternate days (daily in the peak season), which consists of folk dances, gypsy dances and belly dances. All the dancing is very professionally done and it is suitable for families with older children (children below 7 are not allowed).

The Ceremony is in the Real Monasteries near Fatih, Yenikapi, Silivrikapi and Galata areas where the local & the Sufi Community lives. We are the member of the community since the 90's and have a culture center in Sultanahmet. Every Mondays and Thursdays at 20:00 we meet in our place, give a little lecture about the ceremony and go to our monastery with our Car. Its an authentic Ceremony and not a tourist show like in Sultanahmet. The Duration is app. 2 hours with Zikr ( meditation ), Sufi Music & Dervish Ceremony. In the end of the ceremony we return back to Sultanahmet. The Dress Code is long Sleeves & you can take a few photos without flash and disturbing the ambiance. We only take limited number of guests soo please let us know in advanced.. You are all welcome in our monastrey..
This beautiful ceremony, which takes place in a temple, was one of the highlights of my time (almost three months, so I saw a lot of things, where there is something to see everywhere) in Istanbul. There are other places to see Whirling Dervishes but most of them are spectacles/performances for tourists. This one is not. I did not expect that this would actually be such a moving, spiritual experience for me. My suggestion to visitors would be to really be present rather than spend most of the time trying to take pictures to post on Instagram.
