The Northern Territory (abbreviated as NT) is a federal Australian territory in the central and central northern regions of Australia. It shares borders with Western Australia to the west (129th meridian east), South Australia to the south (26th parallel south), and Queensland to the east (138th meridian east). To the north, the territory is bordered by the Timor Sea, the Arafura Sea and the Gulf of Carpentaria. Despite its large area—over 1,349,129 square kilometres (520,902 sq mi), making it the third largest Australian federal division—it is sparsely populated. The Northern Territory's population of 244,000 (2016) makes it the least populous of Australia's eight major states and territories, having fewer than half as many people as Tasmania.

One of our Globus tour outings was going to the OOB BBQ; included hotel pickup, (even a wallaby sighting along the way) & dropoff afterwards. Atmosphere was an old time Outback cattle-station camp located in an abandoned quarry, especially scenic as the sunset. Appears to be run by a local family/crew. Entertainment includes good story telling, local history, boomerang demo and outdoor damper (desert dessert) bread making & baking. Aussie Bush Bar - pretty much was unlimited canned beer, wine refills, soft drinks, water. Dinner - very good steaks grilled to your order, beef sausage (sorta OK), baked potato, salads and rolls. There was after dinner music by a bush balladeer and group sing alongs - everybody joined in Waltzing Matilda, followed by a serving of the over-coals-cooked warm damper with cream and Billy tea. The evening finished with an interesting astronomers talk about Southern hemisphere star systems. Unfortunately the moon was shining brightly that night, so no real jaw-dropping views of the Milky Way. PS - a visit to the dunny is a must do,quite interestingly decorated.
