The 1300-year-old monument was built for the jubilee anniversary of the establishment of one of the most ancient states in the world - Bulgarians. From there, such a view opens up not only to the city itself but also to the incredible views. From the very plateau you can descend with a hang glider, with which you can see these amazing bird's eye views.

In the epoch of the Bulgarian Middle Ages Veliki Preslav is one of the most beautiful and majestic cities in Europe. During the reign of Tsar Simeon it became the capital of Bulgaria and the seat of the first Bulgarian literaly school. Many monuments of Pliska-Preslav culture are preserved in the town. The Southern Gate is one of the most impressive private of Veliki Preslav. A spiral staircase will take you to the top of the gate from when you can see much of the city and imagine that yoa are one of Tsar Simeon's guards. The second largest basilica in medieval Europe, the ruler's basilica, which is over 40 meters long was also an essential part of the city. The Round Church is a magical place-with endless vaults, niches, towers and columns. To express my astonishment i will use the words of John Exarch, "I don't know how to tell this-only with your own eyes you can be amazed by this beauty!"

Pliska... a holy city... and the eternal Bulgarian capital. An incredible place filled with a lot of energy that not everyone Can see and feel. For the whole two centuries since the foundation of the Bulgarian state in 681 to 893 the city has been the main political, cultural and economic center. However, Pliska is also one of the most impressive monuments of medieval town planning. It was the largest in Europe in the 7th century. The first Bulgarian ruler to convert to Christianity was baptised there in the Great Basilica, which for centuries is the largest Christian temple in Europe. Today future tourists can stroll around the Throne Palace called also Omurtag Palace, to see the Eastern Gate, which was the main entrance of the fort and about a kilometer away, the Great Basilica. The local museum is located in the northeast corner of the fortress where you can see findings from the early centuries ot the country and many relics. I would gladly come again and recall the great work of our ancestors.

One of the few so well preserved ancient historical places in Bulgaria, representing different periods from the European culture - ancient, Roman and Medieval. There is a small museum on-site, excellently organized. Very kind museum officials both at the outer and inner area. The view towards Shumen is impressive!
