Palmetto Historical Park

What a beautiful quaint and charming historical village right in the heart of Palmetto! We loved everything about this place from the early history to its current location. The church was beautiful and so tiny, more of a chapel. Great working barn. The library had an exciting history, including the fact that the building had to be dug further down in order to meet the funding requirements. They were able to sidestep the basement requirement. The historical building is located right by ext to a veterans park which was also very interesting. Definitely worth the effort to visit.

Emerson Point Preserve

I went during the day with a group of friends and we had a great time. Even though it was warm, we found shaded places to walk and it was cool along the beach. We parked at the point and did the beach walk trail, point replica mound and observation tower trail. All we easy walks, although the beach trail requires crawling through some trees and might be harder for some. The view from the observation tower is great! We saw some eagles, cardinals and other birds, along with a lot of cute little lizards.

Felts Audubon Preserve

Reviewed By Nanamom5 - Dayton, United States

I have been birdwatching for at least 25 years but have never seen a painted bunting. I was so excited to see them there at Felt's. Lots of indigo buntings were there also. We enjoyed the paths through the reserve and was glad someone pointed out a huge great horned owl with her two little ones, which were also huge! They were so fluffy and cute. This place is a gem for those who love birds. One of the questions on this page was about taking kids there. I would suggest it to those who can keep quiet. It's certainly not a park where kids can run and play and yell. There is no talking at the bird blind where the indigo and painted buntings were so as not to disturb or scare the birds away.
