Definitely worth a visit. Prior to our visit, we had not heard of this place and chose it based on distance to travel. It is a National Trust property so free for members, otherwise £11.60 with gift aid. Everyone from car park steward to the ladies scanning our NT cards, to the volunteers in the different rooms of the house and the staff in the cafe were very welcoming, friendly and helpful. The volunteers in the rooms were also very knowledgeable and were interesting to listen to. There are also information folders in each room and on arrival you are given a leaflet with a floor plan and room information. The gardens and church open at 10am and the house at 11.30am. Arrive early as it gets busy. The church is what remains of an Augustinian Priory. The gardens are lovely with great views of the surrounding countryside. The Stables tea room has indoor and outdoor seating. There is a selection of hot food (jacket potatoes, soup), sandwiches and cakes plus options for hot and cold drinks. Service was prompt and the food was good.

what a brilliant idea.... an amazing second hand bookshop more like a library with delicious coffee and comfy sofas. Also a wonderful gallery space. Loved it, hopefully the warmer weather will attract visitors. Good Luck.

Obviously, for a wood famous for its bluebells spring is THE time! However, with ample free parking onsite and being in such a lovely situation, this natural woodland is delightful throughout the year and is great for dog-walkers and families with children alike.

Daventry Country Park is a popular park ideally situated in the urban fringe of Daventry with circular, way marked and hard-surfaced trails through woodlands, meadows and close to the reservoir with wheelchair accessible bird hides to stop and view the wildlife. With its large reservoir where you can feed the ducks, adventure playground, numerous picnic spots, nature trail and a wealth of wildlife, Daventry Country Park is a great family day out.

Travelling from Yorkshire to Southampton with the dog (Trip Advisor you really do need an option to say travelling / visiting with pets) I spotted this on edge of the map as I was hunting for service stations on the M1. Did a little investigating and decided that this was going to be our lunchtime stop. Its about 10 minutes drive from the motorway and yes you have to pay £2 for parking but it is infinitely more pleasant surroundings and no time limit on your stay. Nice big car park, a playground for the little ones, a visitor centre, toilets and a little cafe. Nothing fancy from the cafe but it is all made to order and you can sit watching the wildlife as you eat it. Allow a good hour or more to walk around the lake, there are various routes and plenty of places to stop and watch the wildlife or just sit and relax. If I ever have to travel south down the M1 again I will be making time to stop off here instead of a service station.

Vintique Limited... a superb ground floor collection of antiques and collectables. Each time we visit there are new things on show. You can easily lose an hour browsing with free parking alongside the historic canal and Royal Ordnance Depot which adds to the experience. Highly recommended.
