A journey through the HISTORY OF RUM.During the Arehucas Guided Tour visitors can enjoy the facilities of our distillery, full of history, tradition and work well done. Besides explaining the process of making our rums the tour allows us to visit one of the oldest rum cellars in Europe, made up of 4,308 american oak barrels. This tour through the history of rum in the Canary Islands takes 45 minutes and consists of 5 stages: Origin of Arehucas; visit to the cellar where the ageing process is carried out; learning about the rum processing and visit to the mill and the fermentation and distillation rooms. Visit to the bottling plant and tasting of some of our wide variety of rums and liqueurs. At the end of the visit, you can purchase the Destilerias Arehucas products.
We had a really great tour guide, who made a very interesting tour with some rum tasting in the end. All the people working their are very nice and know a lot about the company. A must do in Gran Canaria.

My wife and I were lucky to have visited the impressive San Juan Bautista church in Arucas in December when the nativity scene was on display. The church is very imposing and stands proud over the town as you approach. Although it looks really old, it's actually quite a modern construction, but done in a gothic style that suggests it is centuries old. We had around 30 minutes inside the church as part of a full day cruise ship excursion and it was lovely to see it from the inside. The huge nativity scene was a sight to behold, really impressive, with some moving parts too. Apart from the nativity scene the grand looking chandelier was also impressive. If you are visiting Gran Canaria this church is well worth checking out.

We came across this park accidentally when walking from the rum distillery back to town and I’m glad we did. It is a pretty little park, well maintained and quiet, with some benches to sit down and enjoy a bit of shade and a playground for smaller kids to play.
