A historic building renovated for comfort
Reviewed By Carol0910This is a small hotel that had never had English speaking guests before. However, they were wonderful and treated us very well. The building is very old but has been renovated to include modern bathrooms. The stairs are spirals and can be a little challenging but make for a lovely atmosphere. The breakfast was simple but very good and pleasant. The restaurant was very good with a lovely waitress who translated the whole menu for us. They even made a special apple strudel for my husband when he ordered one. This is not a luxury hotel but it is very clean, comfortable and unique. It is up the street from a winery which we visited

A pleasant stop
Reviewed By Mark LA nicely kept, moderately sized hotel far enough away from the centre of Bad Durkheim to make driving easy and escape any crowds. Liked the comfortable room, the clean and modern bathroom, the breakfasts, the ample parking space and the relative ease of access from the main road. Wasn't sure what we'd find based on the photographs, but the interior outperformed expectations. Would happily stay here again.

Inhospitability at Bettelhaus-Bad Durkheim-Ungstein
Reviewed By GermanyKevinFirst of all, we arrived late before 10 in the evening so there was noone at the reception.We called the owner on the phone and he said he had left a key at the back door in a key box.We started searching for the key.There were more doors in the back.All were closed.We searched for something that looked like a box, no luck. We were ready to give up when I saw the dog tray, a key was in it. The last thing you want to do at that hour and with a 10 months old baby in your arms is to go treasure hunting. Second, the price of the room included breakfast and a "non existing" bottle of mineral water.On the first morning the breakfast consisted of bread and jam.No drinks next to it.No one was in sight and the kitchen was in a total mess.The second day the breakfast was the same but to my luck the owner was there so he brought some butter and milk when he saw me.The third and last day at the hotel, because some other unfortunate traveler had stopped there, we had a decent breakfast. A nicely ornated plate with cheese and ham. Last but not least, the place was extremly noisy.In the morning the workers were repairing the road, in the evening the owner was socializing with neighbours in front of our window and in the night somebody was playing a trompet or the owner was busy arranging the garbage

Reviewed By SteffibravDas Personal der Marktschänke ist in jeder Hinsicht ausßergewöhnlich freundlich und das nette Frühstück im Restaurant (kein Buffett) ist sehr angenehm. Alle Wünsche der Gäste werden umgehend erfüllt. Die Zimmer im Nebengebäude dagegen, eigentlich kein richtiges Hotel sondern eher ein Wohnhaus, sind sehr einfach, das Mobiliar ist weder schön noch hochwertig, die Einrichtung ist von der Zusammenstellung weder praktisch noch schön. Auch die handwerkliche Qualität der Arbeiten ist auf niedrigem Niveau. Der als Minibar aufgestellte Kühlschrank roch ganz ganz schlecht. Mir tut es leid für die netten Mitarbeiter des Restaurants, aber das Hotel ist nur bedingt eine Empfehlung.
