Gettysburg is steeped in the history of the Civil War. In 1863, it was the site of the epic Battle of Gettysburg, in which some 50,000 soldiers were killed. It is also, of course, the place where Abraham Lincoln delivered the immortal Gettysburg Address. The town itself is made up of houses, hotels and taverns dating back several centuries, but Gettysburg offers more modern travel and leisure activities, as well, like wine tastings, orchard tours, shopping and golfing.

We saw an acoustic band playing in the window so we stopped in for a glass of wine and some entertainment. It was packed but we got a table for 2. The manager was very friendly and we will be back for a wine tasting.

Traveling in the midst of COVID hasn't been easy. We traveled to Gettysburg again and were very disappointed that several of the satellite wineries in downtown were not doing tasting of any sort, flights with food purchase. After being disappointed at several over Labor Day weekend we spied J&P's sign, it said tasting. We took a chance and it was a welcomed chance. Flight style tastings of your choice. Welcome to bring your own food or purchase cheese and crackers reasonably. Staff was incredibly welcoming and couldn't do enough for us or any of the other's who were visiting. Tables were spaced apart, cleaning, hand sanitizer available. Felt that it was a very safe environment. A couple of options as far as tasting and reasonable as well. Some very nice wines and the atmosphere was enjoyable, They will let you purchase, hold the wine for you if you are out and about walking the town and exploring and your car isn't near by. It was so nice to sit and enjoy something that we enjoy doing. I would highly recommend J&P and will return when we are in the area. When times are better we could easily spend a nice block of time there.
