This is a truly incredible hotel! The owners treat you as if you are one of their family. They went out of their way to accommodate our every need and and to make us feel relaxed and at home. When we checked in, the owner noticed that we were travelling with our infant daughter so upgraded us to a family suite. When checking out, we left the room in a bit of a rush and forgot a couple of items (including my wedding ring!!). The owner searched the room up and down for them and happily had them delivered to our next location. The food is excellent as well. I cannot recommend this place enough!

Overlooking magnificent Longsheng rice terraces, Li-An Lodge is a wood structure implementing Chinese building technique of tongue and groove without nails. The owner, Keren Su, renowned photographer, artist and adventurous world traveler, uses his impeccable artistic taste to design each room in a distinct theme featuring Chinese folk art and culture. There are guided hiking tours during the day and slide shows featuring Keren's photography at night. This is where Chinese tradition meets modern luxury.
The Li An Lodge was an amazing place, with by far the best location in town for viewing the rice terraces. Our host, Aaron, was extremely attentive and kind, guided us through the beautiful landscape, spoke very good English, played with our daughter and is even a very good cook! The wooden hotel has a cozy feel, and the rooms are comfortable and nicely decorated.

Our stay at this hotel was fantastic! We'd first and foremost like to thank the staff for making our trip so special, especially zhu zhu, xiao dai, and a li were exceedingly helpful. From arranging transportation to far away locations, suggesting things to do & planning our day, to renting a scooter for us to get around town. Their service went above and beyond. The hotel/resort itself is very peaceful, the rooms spacious, clean, and modern (heated floors, towel heating and 'Japanese' toilets), and the main building is very pleasant to sit in as well. Breakfast is served in the morning, and throughout the day you can sample different fruit teas and drinks they make in house. There's a restaurant next door, from which you can order and the waiters will actually bring the dishes to the hotel for you! This hotel is highly, highly recommended! To make the stay even better, we suggest that the hotel buy some white win and keep it chilled. For some reason, there's virtually no white wine anywhere in Yang Shuo! Red wine in abudance though.

We travelled with friends and two elderlies to Guilin booked on terms to stay exclusively in a river view villa occupying the top floor for 4D3N. Firstly, the lift was said to be under maintenance upon our arrival and we have to walk up the stairs and carry our bags all the way up to our rooms. Thinking we’re the only ones staying there, someone barged into our place while we were having a glass of wine on the ground floor the first night! Hotel management had put someone in the second floor without letting us know. How disrespectful! Then the next morning after an early shower, water leaked heavily into the next door toilet in my room. Not knowing that, I slipped and hit my head on the glass panel. When we asked to be transferred to another 3 bedroom villa, they dare to charge us extra on the room rates! Breakfast was included but choice was limited. Staff was inexperienced and served us well done pan fried eggs though we asked for sunny sided ones. Bread was toasted soggy and was served cold. Kitchen in the villa was poorly equipped with cooking utensils and there wasn’t even a coffee machine! The rooms were varied in size and mine was only a double bed which is quite small in terms of its advertised luxury. The place was not designed practically as a hotel to start off with but was originally intended for sale. So it wasn’t very user friendly! An example to show their unprofessionalism, they sent a 5 seater vehicle for a party of six for transfer to the breakfast villa. All in all, a complete disaster and we will never in a million years go back again. There are certainly better 5 star hotels facing the Lijiang river which are more affordably priced with the same view!

This hotel was a few kilometres from Guilin city centre. It has been built to resemble a Chinese village. There are plenty of hotels and restaurants and gift shops. The room had a separate sitting area with the bedroom up stairs. There were mountain views from each of the 2 windows. The bathroom had good hot water and a western toilet. The hotel staff had no English and relied on an app on their phone. Sometimes it worked ok sometimes not. There was no information about buses and times to go into the city. Breakfast was very ordinary. Overall average hotel. Oh it said ATM available but it did not take overseas credit cards.
