White Witch Golf Course

Situated on the historic 4,000 acre Rose Hall Estate, and sited on 200 acres of lush greenery and rolling countryside, The White Witch Golf Course is carved from the rolling countryside of Jamaica’s historic Rose Hall Plantation and is an 18-hole championship golf course designed by Robert von Hagge and Rick Baril. This 6,758-yard, Par 71 treasure is named for the plantation’s beautiful but wicked 19th century plantation mistress, Annee Palmer. Legend has it that Annee’s ghost still haunts the estate, creating an alluring mystique that has fascinated island natives and visitors for generations. Winner of the "Jamaica's Best Golf Course" award at the 2015 World Golf Awards, also rated as the #1 Golf Course and #1 in Golf Shop Staff service by Conde Nast Traveler. The White Witch is considered one of the finest golf courses in the Caribbean, characterized by mountainous terrain, cool trade winds, colorful foliage and spectacular ocean views from 16 of its 18 holes.

When playing this course, make sure that you have something to take pictures because the views on the different holes are fantastic. You will have a caddie go with you and give you advice on the course and holes. We also asked our caddie about the different things to do around Jamaica and her recommendations. The course is very challenging but definitely something to try out if you are a big golfer. They do recommend you tip the caddie $20. The only thing I was "upset" about was when we did tip our caddie $20 she seemed disappointed that it was only $20. Overall though, beautiful view!

Rose Hall Great House

The greatest of Jamaican great houses, the Rose Hall Great House has a story with all the elements of an engaging novel. Built in 1770 by John Palmer and his wife, it eventually became the residence of their grandnephew, John Rose Palmer. In 1820, Palmer married Annee, a beautiful but feisty English girl. Little did John know that his young wife possessed “black magic” powers that would eventually lead to his demise. During her reign as mistress of the plantation, Annee did away with two more husbands and countless lovers. “The White Witch of Rose Hall” has fascinated generations, and even today, there are those who claim to see Annee passing through the Great House. A candle-lit evening tour of the Rose Hall Great House is a must for visitors to Montego Bay. Your guided exploration of the former home of Jamaica’s White Witch, Annee Palmer, includes captivating and chilling stories of love, murder and mystery skillfully told by knowledgeable guides. You’re sure to feel goose bumps as these eerie tales come to life in this grand estate, where ghost sightings have been reported over the years. Tours also give historic insight into this grandest of Jamaican great houses, now beautifully restored with 18th-century decor and antiques. To conclude this fascinating adventure, you can visit the dungeon, now transformed into a tavern called Annee’s Pub. Many visitors find that the famous rum cocktail, known as “Witches Brew” helps banish the spirits of ghosts or black magic they sense still lingering in the mansion.

This was an interesting tour. I’m glad we went. The house has been around since the 1770’s. it’s great architecture and history was fascinating and impressive that something can still be around after so many years. I only wish I’d have paid more attention when upstairs in the red room, Annie Palmers room. There is a mirror that people who have taken pictures of have captured ghostly pictures. Photos from people who have visited and noticed things in their photos have mailed them in to the great house for dislay

Nice layout but in terrible shape. Many greens are without grass and you hit about a third of the shots off mud.
The Hilton told me it was $55 to play but it was $170 plus a $30 tip for the mandatory caddie.
Don’t waste your money

We were looking for a new beach vacation that didn't require a long flight.
We had not been there before.
It was a great surprise. The all inclusive was worth it. The food was not typical all inclusive quality food. Room was great and and the service was top notch. Highly recommend.
