Visit a landscape of returning forest and wetlands, and remnant cellar holes and stone walls that recall a long-abandoned settlement dating to early Colonial times.

We enjoyed this hike immensely. When we went there were no other people on the trail. Because we were there when ice and snow were still on the ground we were happy we had hiking poles. We did the complete hike- the climb, the meadow and the loop (loved the old stone walls, and make sure you read about the history of this site!) and it took us a little under 2 hours. Lots of animal prints in the snow. Great spot!

Les Trois Emme Winery

This is an adorable winery. It is all very small and local but the service and attention you get is amazing! We did the wine tasting for two, which means you get to try five wines and they give you small snacks to go with them. Very worth it. We bought a bottle produced on the grounds that we had later that night and it was very good. A trip worth taking.

Umapchene Falls Park

Reviewed By Windwalker18 - Troy, United States

The falls and park are owned by the Town and legally is closed to outsiders. I went with friends who live there and it was lovely. The water coming over the falls is cold and strong, with a shallow pool at the bottom, maybe 4' deep. Love sitting on the rocks under the cascade having the water pound on my back... talk about a deep muscle massage! The other creek along the picnic grounds has a sandy bottom, and the kids 8-14 enjoyed playing and swimming there... again it's not deep, put quite clean. The grounds are well kept, a lot of locals go there in the evening after work to hang out have a few beers, play football and listen to their music. The main drawback is that it's NOT a public park, and the wooden bridge leading to it is a bit sketchy... Still quite nice.
