This ancient village is unique in that its layout is based on the feng shui principles of the Bagua ie 8 trigrams formation. The centrepoint is the ying and yang shaped pond and the various historic dwellings and halls encircle this in trigram formation. The entire village is virtually unspoiled by later architecture one of the most recent being the former police station from the 1912-1949 era. Most of the buildings are Ming or Qing era. The layout is maze-like so suggest you take a compass - two days there and we still didn't see (find) all we set out to see!

Visit by early morning to practice Tai-Chi, and regular fitness, the Park is filled up with people by 6:30 - 7:00 AM. It is so restful to see the local people enjoy their morning peaceful Tai Chi movements. At night, you can take long walks along lighted roads and breathe the fresh but slightly chilly cold air. It is a great experience to stay in a rural city.

This was a brilliant experience. The Mountains and the landscape are great and offer a perfect respite from the busy cities of China. The area was very quiet which is something hard to find in tourist spots. The caves were great, over 800m traveled by boat and nearly 2km afterwards on foot. Bear in mind that there are over 500 steps to get out, by your rewarded with a toboggan ride to get back down. Other than the steps and a couple of spots where you need to watch your head this is a great option for families and easy to do.
