Wonder location, well maintained, peaceful atmosphere..
Cable Car is nice but locals suggested to take the staircase..
Still over the temple, they said there is a desert point which we missed due to lack of time.
Must see place if you hang around in Jalore district..

I visited the fort in November 2008. It is one of oldest forts of Rajasthan and is famous for long siege and battle between its Rajput king and Khilaji in early 14th century. The base point for climb -up is an unspectacular place and can only be approached through narrow lanes. The autorickshaw is best vehicle to reach to base. From there it is about 40 minutes climb up. There are some excellant defense gates on the way up.They are namely Suraj Pole, Dhruv Pole,Chand Pole and Sire Pole. The way up is also dotted with many small srines. On top and inside the fort thre are Jain temples, Hindu temples, old palace buildings and some waterholes. The water storage system in palace building is worth noting. One can enjoy the fine view of Jalore town from top.
The best time to visit is October to March. in other months one should climb up in morning. It can be hot later in the day. On return one should not miss to visit Topkhana a beautiful 14th century building located in the town within walking distance from the base point.
