The Peak Pilgrimage is a long distance footpath walk from Ilam to Eyam designed to be enjoyed by all. Nowhere is the walking more lovely, relaxing, accessible and soul-restorative than in the Peak District National Park. But it has an added twist - this is also a pilgrimage walk designed as a spiritual experience. This is neither dreary nor frightening because pilgrimages are meant to be fun!

Ilam Park is cared for by the National Trust and offers space to play and explore, woodland walks and far reaching views towards Dovedale and Thorpe Cloud. The visitor centre, toilets, shop and tea-room are open daily throughout the year. Ilam Park welcomes dogs on leads all year round. Pay and display car park on site - Free parking for National Trust members.
On our way to Leek, we needed a stop for a drink, picnic and, err, washroom facilities. As National Trust members, this came up on our radar, so we made a small diversion and thoroughly enjoyed our hour’s break, with free, easy parking, good facilities, a cafe, and in our case, several grassy banks on which to enjoy our picnic. Great views with apparently some wonderful walks. An excellent hour.

The National Trust tea-room is open daily throughout the year serving homemade cakes, hot and cold lunches, drinks and ice creams. There is outdoor seating offering far reaching views towards Dovedale or you can warm up inside the tea-room. Money raised from this tea-room goes towards looking after the Peak District.
Visited today having parked here for a very reasonable £5 for the whole day, walked to Dove dale, up Thorpe Cloud and back via the diversion route for dog owners. The sun was shining so delighted to be able to sit in the gardens with that amazing view after quite a hike. Was greeted in the tea room by a young lady with a lovely smile and was amazed at the considerable choice on offer. I chose the savoury tea ( yummy cheese scone with chutney and cream cheese ) plus a moreish luxury hot chocolate! Hubby went for jam roly poly and custard plus a pot of tea, all for just over £12, fantastic value especially considering the location. Our overall impression was of a place where you are made to feel like a valued customer and today will stay with us as one of our best on our first holiday in the Peak District
