Doswell is an unincorporated community in Hanover County in the Central Region of the U.S. Commonwealth of Virginia. Originally called Hanover Junction, it was located on the Virginia Central Railroad, which later became part of the Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad (C&O) at a crossing of the Richmond, Fredericksburg and Potomac Railroad, a north-south route. Both railroads are now owned by CSX Transportation, although the former Virginia Central line is leased to a short-line carrier, Buckingham Branch Railroad. The area near the Doswell train station is a popular train-watching site for railfans.

Okay, so I have been trying to go to this winery for a while and went to their website and submitted a request to visit the winery through their contact form, but never heard back, I tried again a few weeks before I was in the area and again did not hear back. I finally called their number and was informed (through an automated message) that they were open and to stop by during their business hours. So that is what I did. The winery is in a lovely spot and their tasting room is just a few weeks old. They are still working on their landscaping and will have their official "Grand Opening" in late March. I got to do my tasting with Pam, the owner, and I shared with her about the website issues and the conflict between the website and phone messages. It seems their online form is broken and they did not get the voice message I left. But they are opening during the times they said and they have a lovely selection of wines. The tasting menu is very dynamic with a little of something for everyone. They do have mainly off-dry wines, which pleased me. I liked their Vidal Blanc and Sangria the best, but the slushies they have were pretty gosh darn good. Also they still had some of their mulled wine, which was very warming and flavorful. I definite must if you are near I-95, but be sure to follow the little yellow signs that take you the back way to Narrow Path Trail as the way your GPS will take you will not get you to the winery. Also they are dog-friendly.

A friend and I took our annual trip to Kings Dominion. The park was fairly clean, and the employees were friendly enough. It is a very beautiful park located in northern Virginia. One thing we encountered that was new to us was the pricing on the menu at some of the restaurants. The price rang up higher at the register than listed on the menu. It was probably a computer error somewhere. We notified a supervisor who corrected the problem immediately and returned the money to us. Always a good time here.

Our "Hoofprints of History" tours of Secretariat's birthplace at The Meadow showcase the Virginia farm that produced an American legend. Author/historian Leeanne Meadows Ladin takes visitors to the historic barns and grounds, as well as through pictorial galleries and rare exhibits that illustrate the glory days of Meadow Stable and its immortal Triple Crown champion. Reservations required.
The first time for our family to attend the Show - which exceeded our expectations. We were anticipating something much simpler, less creative but instead found a high level of engineering and design. Music - on a dedicated radio station - was synchronized with the lights and the animated lighted figures to create an impressive experience. Took just 20-minutes or so to drive through but we went right after Christmas in order to avoid the delays and clogs - accordingly, waited for just a few minutes in the car line. We thought the price ($25.00 per car) was reasonable given the sophistication of the show. Likely to go again next year.
