Bad Wiessee is a municipality in the district of Miesbach in Upper Bavaria in Germany. Since 1922, it has been a spa town and located on the western shore of the Tegernsee Lake. It had a population of around 4800 inhabitants in 2014. The word "Bad" means "spa" or "baths", while "Wiessee" derives from "Westsee", meaning "western part of the lake". Bad Wiessee was first documented in 1017 in the tax book of the Tegernsee Abbey, encouraged to pay goods to the abbey.

My first visit was a revelation. The gambling rooms are very quiet, no boisterous gamblers like Vegas or AC. There aren't any slot machines. You may play black jack, roulette or other games of chance. One must have a passport to enter, locals are not welcome. There's a large-screen tv in the foyer so guests can keep abreast of their latest soccer team's status.
There's a lake and a charming shopping village amist the spendor of the alps. I saw my first swan up close and personal--they're much larger than I imagined. On our first visit, there was a noisy crowd celebrating in the church basement. I was amazed at there being a lively beer hall in such a place, but it was total fun once I joined in. Bavarians know how to enjoy the merits of their paradise.

We go here each year. They don't allow photos inside to protect people's privacy. Go here to really relax.. They have everything.. some of the amenities are controlled At least 4 heat bubbling hot tubs, an herb sauna (ooh Eucalyptus) a steam sauna, infrared dry sauna, large steam sauna, clothing optional rooms, cold waterfall, massage services, exercise classes, restaurant, (very good lunch snacks, light meals and full service bar...they will make a pizza and send it out to the pool!! The two heated indoor pools with water features, heated outdoor pool with water features and slide are great and so much fun. It has it all, it is a full service place and for a very reasonable price. In the United States you would pay a premium, it would be a luxury spa, here it is affordable, and for the people. You pay per 15 min increments and we find 1 hour is all you need including undress and dressing time. Dressing rooms have hair dryers but they a low heat so takes longer. We go on cold even rainy days and find we sleep like babies that night. It is right on the local bus line. Next time it is not so great outside , go ahead and treat yourself,. It is a great place to be in any weather!
