The Oden State Fish Hatchery

The day we visited, the Visitor Center wasn't open, but we enjoyed the river cut out and the ponds. We were disappointed that we couldn't feed the fish, as friends had told us how much they enjoyed that. Still a very worthwhile stop!

Crooked Vine Vineyard & Winery

We thoroughly enjoyed our experience here. The setting, scenery and grounds are all gorgeous. We were immediately welcomed by Geoff and selected a glass of wine to enjoy drinking under the apple tree in Adirondack chairs. They did a very nice job making wines from the various grapes and creating a Napa Valley like building and experience. I highly recommend you include this stop on your wine trail trip, or just to enjoy for a single visit as we did!

We are very excited to take you on a tour of Crooked River. Crooked River is part of Michigan’s historical Inland Waterway connecting Crooked Lake to Burt Lake. Our trip begins between the two lakes in the charming town of Alanson, MI. The river twists and turns with fabulous views the whole way. We will glide past many wonderful cottages and homes along the banks of the river as well as many uninhabited natural areas. We never know what wildlife might pop out to say hello. We might see Eagles, osprey, swans, geese, beaver and deer.
