Reconnect Regal Theatre

Due to the situation created by Covid 19, Reconnect have taken the decision to cancel all live events in the Reconnect Regal Theatre until February 2021. We hope to reopen the venue for community classes and youth groups when the schools start back in August. This will include using the main hall with the seating bank away to accommodate classes that would have been in some of the smaller halls. If your group would like to use the venue for a class or group please contact us on email. The Regal Community Theatre is a Charitable Trust set up to provide quality entertainment and access to the arts for all. The Regal has regular comedy nights, film nights, plays, tribute acts and much more.

The Hive Soft Play and Party Center

Reviewed By 577lizw - Livingston, United Kingdom

It was refreshing to see that the NEW owners & Linda -Hive Co-Ordinator have taken on board & IMPLEMENTED customer suggestions. On a visit today I noticed signage/rules & menus displayed for SIGHT IMPAIRMENT. This is the ONLY soft play/activity centre in West Lothian that accommodates NOT only SIGHT IMPAIRMENT but ALSO accommodate ADDITIONAL support for SPECIAL NEEDS Children. This service is available on WEDNESDAYS 5pm - 7pm for QUIET time for these children to be assisted to play or interact with others. The Hive are NOT open to the public during this time. This service shows that the NEW owners/Linda, Hive CoOrdinator wish to INCLUDE children REGARDLESS of disability. I am aware that very few organisations, eateries such as McDonalds,(which is popular with children), do NOT accommodate for the SIGHT IMPAIRED. This makes these children feel embarrassed as they are FORCED to rely on others to read menus. In McDonalds these individuals asked for a menu to make their choice to be told “it’s up there for you to read” THANK YOU The Hive, Linda & staff for INCLUDING the SIGHT IMPAIRED. Similar organisations &/or eateries should take a leaf out your book

Cairnpapple Hill

This site is closed for now. We’re working hard to gradually reopen the places you love while making sure the experience is safe for everyone. Explore a rare ceremonial complex in the Bathgate Hills. The broad summit of Cairnpapple Hill was a significant site for ceremonies and burials for at least 4,000 years.

Cairnpapple Hill offers a wonderful spiritual experience. From the surrounding area it looks nothing special; just a hill with a radio tower on the top and even as you climb to the summit there seems nothing exceptional about the place. Once you step out onto the summit, however, the panoramic view across central Scotland takes your breath away. You can see for many miles in all directions, even as far as Arran to the West on a clear day. You can see the valley of the Forth and right across to the Ochils to the North and the Pentlands to the South West. Just by looking around you can see why the ancient people built a ceremonial centre and buried their dead here. You feel close to the sky and you can see and feel the living world about you. The henge dates back over 5000 years and was ancient when the Romans found it almost 2000 years ago. Cairnpapple might not appeal to most people. I guess to many people it would look like a simple bare hill. It is no coincidence, however, that these ancient works are sited here. The modern concrete ‘cairn’ and some of the interior restoration works are a bit of a distraction but if you sit outside on the warm grass on a summer’s day and look around you, you can really connect with the past and feel part of the endless progression of time. If you are spiritually and/or historically inclined I would strongly recommend a visit to Cairnpapple. You won’t be disappointed,
