Visited recently, the guide was very enthusiastic and informative. The two actors playing the part of the passengers really brought the story alive and the interaction with the visitors was entertaining! After the ship we visited the restaurant which was excellent and far above the standard normally found at a visitor centre. Would thoroughly recommend a visit to the Dunbrody.

The Tour – Reopening for guided tours June 2018 Duncannon Fort is an impressive presentation of a bastioned fortress perched on the side of the stunning Hook Peninsula, County Wexford, part of Ireland’s Ancient East. This historic structure has gathered countless intriguing and awe inspiring stories over its 450 year history and holds one of the best vantage points to take in the beautiful Waterford Estuary from. Duncannon Fort closed for the season on Sunday 28th August 2016. Thank you for all the support this season. *Hook Tourism is a not for profit organisation. All funds raised contribute to providing these guided tours and to the development of tourism on the Hook Peninsula.

Taking a trip back in time at the Dunbrody Visitors Centre has to be one of the highlights of a visit to New Ross. Understanding the reasons for leaving Ireland and the hardship entailed in doing so, brings empathy. The characterisations of the players on-board the ship were excellent and again you began to feel the atmosphere and life undertaken by these unfortunate people. Time spent walking around the bowels of the ship and reflecting upon their plight is well worth it. Afterwards, take in the exhibits and exhibition in the visitors centre; it all starts to make sense. An absolute winner of a tourist attraction.

Less than one hour in length take the Ring of Hook Coastal Drive to soak up the stunning coastal rural scenery this beautiful part of Ireland has to offer, while catching sight of some of our county’s most important built heritage. Follow Ring of Hook Signage starting from Tintern Abbey, on to Fethard village, Baginbun Head, Loftus Hall, Hook Lighthouse, Templar’s Church ruins and finish in Duncannon Village. Full map and brochure available May 2015.
The Hook Peninsula is just packed with history. On the tip is the world's oldest working lighthouse; 800 years and still going. A couple of miles further inland you will find a Templar's church, a bay where sunken Spanish treasure washes up from time to time, Duncannon Fort, the remarkable Tintern Abbey, Colclough Walled Gardens, and even a shipwreck! Throw in a few great pubs (Roche's in Duncannon village is a favourite), plus possibly the best restaurant in Ireland (Aldridge Lodge) and you have the makings of a great holiday. Definitely one of the great undiscovered parts of Ireland and only 45 minutes from Rosslare ferry port.
